new from central texas

Been a long time reader, personally not that social since I am learning and wouldn't consider myself valuable as a source of info. Been shooting my entire life and love it. Greatest achievement would be getting my kids interested in shooting (3 and 5yo). I have personally hunted all over US and Alaska, but my greatest trophy is probably watching my 5yo son shoot his first buck this fall.

Taking my first real professional precision class in June. Yea I know dang hot in Texas in June. I am currently shooting a Rem 700 .308 (Robar) topped with a leupold. About to make a considerable scope upgrade. The only thing that keeps me from shooting more is time and economics.

This is a great site. Fun and useful lets keep it that way

Where abouts in central Texas are you? I'm in Arlington and am just now really getting into long range shooting. I have been a member here since 2008 with every intent getting into long range shooting back them, but things happen and it has been put off until now. I currently getting a Remington 700 .308 ready to zero and have some fun. I'd like to get together with others that are in the area and shoot. I belong to TDSA (south of Dallas), which, currently, goes out to 300 yards, but I have not used the long range shooting range yet (I have only used the 25 yard pistol/rifle bays).

I'm close to Austin. Currently I can shoot out to 650yds at a friends place. I'm hoping to do some work so I can stretch it a little farther. This can become addictive.

Best Of The West is just NW of Austin and will allow you to shoot to 1000 yrds. I'm hoping to get out there sometime in April. will be my first trip out there.
