NEW from SoCal..kick some dirt my way!

Hi gents,

Well I've been in Law Enforcement for about 8 years and the Marines prior to that and I've always been around firearms. Never took it up as a hobby, but more as constant practice as a work tool. Recently a buddy from work brought a .308 into the range and a little competitive shooting started using his rifle. This was nothing new, but for some reason the desire to own my own long rifle for shooting stay embedded in my blood and wouldn't leave. I have a few pistols and a gorgeous AR15, but now I wanted something new. I have been researching several weeks and have come across this forum several times with helpful posts and today I decided to join. But I need some advice kicked around please...I know there is no set answer and all is based on preference and $$$money$$$, but any current advice will help. Most of the threads I keep finding are over 2 or 3 years old. I'm stuck on stock selection. This is what I have now and ready to assemble:

This is my first bolt action rifle.

Remington 700 .308 SPS Tactical AAC-SD 20in 1/10twist
Harris S-Bipod
AAC blackout 90T Muzzle Brake
Badger Ordnance 20MOA Scope Base
Badger Ordnance 34mm Scope Rings
Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44(34mm) Scope
Timney Calvin Elite Trigger (set to 2.5lbs)
STOCK??????????

From what I've read I'm leaning towards the B&C model 2092 unless someone has a horror story or better suggestion. I would like to stay under $400 on the stock and would also like to use the rifle for hunting on occasion. Once this pretty girl is put together I'll post plenty of pictures.

This is what Papa bear owns now in the safe.

Sig Sauer P220
HK USP 40
S&W .38special air light
FNX 45 tan/black
Smith & Wesson MP15 MOE with Eotech sights and Magpul options
