I just received my 308 from GAP a few days ago and got some rounds downrange. This is my first GAP and it does shoot! Specs are: Lawton 7000, MCM A5 bedded with a 24" bartlein 1-11.25 tight bore, Vaios Brake and Nightforce 5.5-22mil/mil with Badger rings.

I don't have any pictures of groups yet as I didn't have my camera today. Load work over the last 3 days resulted in 46.6 Varget, fed 210m, lapua brass with 155 scenar at 2.820. ..25-.5 consistent at 100 yards.

This morning I went up to Reade Range and tried 45.8, 46.2, 46.6, 46.8, and 47.0. The first 5 powder charges all went in a 2.6" group with only 1.3" vertical for all. So I ended up with 12 rounds from 4 different charges all at 2.6" This was in an approx 10mph wind to boot! I then shot a 5 shot group at 500 with the 46.6 and ended up with a 1.7" group. Maybe an inch vertical. I also went out to 800 with three different powder charges as before and ended up with a 4.5" 5 round group. I'm ready to try this thing when its not 25 degrees and wind blowing all over the place!

I tested it against the 175smk and it was much better.

Re: New Gap 308

Nice stick!
I almost equate GAP rifles to suppressors. I have one GAP and love it to death. I'm getting the itch to get another but with the quality and workmanship, I'm hard pressed to find a justification for another.
When I bought my first can, I thought: "one and done." That didn't work out so well. We'll see how the one and done works with GAP rifles.

Re: New Gap 308

Mine also has an 11.25 twist and shoots the 155 scenars well. Be careful if you are running 47 grains with a 174. Its probably ok this time of year but will be a little hot in the summer months and you will be sure to see pressure signs.

Re: New Gap 308

The 47 was the highest charge with the 155's I tried but was higher than the other 12 of the group. The load I use is 46.6. My 175 load is 43.7 Varget but I won't be using that one anymore.
Can't wait to go out again

Re: New Gap 308

I loaded up 15 rounds and went out this morning and shot prone with bipod and rear bag. 100 yard group was clean bore, first two went slightly low then the following 3 were as the usual poa

Targets were at 100, 220. and 300. I also tore off my old target from the other day doing load work and you can see the typical 100 yard groups I get from this rifle. The one 100 yard group was pretty much one hole and I got worked up and did the same as the 300 yard..just slightly right!

The 300 yard target was great. All four were touching and I could see this and got too worked up on the last one lol. It's still a great group but I wish I didn't get the "refrigerator effect"

The 155's seem to tighten up at 300 and out for me.

Load used was 155 lapua scenars, Lapua Brass, Fed210m primer with 46.6 Varget at COL of 2.820.

This load appears to be a hammer. The 100 yard groups with a fouled bore and pretty much one ragged hole consistently. Very little vertical from 300 yard and beyond! Ready for spring now

Re: New Gap 308

Thanks for that info. I was looking for an accurate load with 155g bullet heads. Im using SMKs. My local range only goes out to 300yds so its not a distance thing.

Nice new GAP!
