Hey Hider's!

Jense Precision just demonstrated several new versions of their tube guns. These are amazingly accurate and very light when compared to the same size steel barrel.

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

I know ABS cost some nice chunk of change but the 400% cooling rate caught my eye reaaaal fast and the weight. A rough price would be greatly appreciated.

some what off optic, please bear with me. if you click on the link and go to jensen's home page towards the middle of the pictures on the home page you see an ar-15 with a gas block thats the same height as the rail. does anyone by any chance know what brand that is?

and they shoot phenominally to!

I have a range report that I hope to get out this weekend. My lastest Jense Precision rifle has a 16.25" ABS .308 barrel. "Heavy" contour, so to speak, but still like 2 pounds or so.

It did some sub half MOA (at 100 yards) work last weekend with the cheapest scope I had ($119 bushnell) and out of the box ammo. Just blew me away. rifle is very light and has moved to the top of my list for a "walk-about" rifle. I wonder how it will do with a tier 1 scope and hand loaded ammo? Hope to post pictures soon!

From experience I can say that you can't go wrong with a Jense rifle. Buy once, cry once!

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

I'm giving this serious thought. I have wanted a Semi Auto rig for a while but not because of the semi auto capability but because of handling but I have stopped from buying one because of their accuracy I don't really care about the quick follow up shots compared to accuracy. Plus this would be so much lighter with the ABS.

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

I have a MAK and know that Jense makes awesome stuff. However, if "light" is what you are looking for, then a tubegun is a poor choice. A tubegun chassis is quite a bit heavier than most traditional stocks. I dressed my MAK up with a 22" sporter barrel and A1 buttstock to make it as light as possible for hunting. It weighs 9.2 lbs: not terrible, but not light either. My McMillan Edge rifle in pretty much the same configuration is 7.2lbs.

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

Well 9lbs compared to 12 or 13 is somewhat light, and I don't know I have been throwing around several stock options in my head there's just too many.

That's 9.2lbs without a scope, rings, sling, ammo. Add 2+ lbs for all that: not light for a hunting rifle...but depends on how far you'll be walking and how strong your back is.

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

I like the idea of the tube guns as they look pretty comfortable to get behind and shoot They also look like that would be great to shoot "positional" unsupported. My concern is that for a tactical type rifle I would want mine to have a safety. Most tube guns Ive seen don't.

Is there anyway to get one with a safety?

And still waiting on the range report... </div></div>

They are as durable as it gets since it is an aluminum chassis. My Tubegun is the most accurate rifle I've ever had. Shoots lights out and never had a problem with it. When you compare the tubegun to a traditional stock, the main difference is that an aluminum sleeve completely encompasses the action, thereby greatly improving action stiffness: especially if its glued in. Extra stiffness can only help accuracy.

Also, a tubegun does not require bedding: removing a periodic maintenance chore if you shoot a lot.

I prefer the MAK over the Eliseo because you can swap buttstocks. For Highpower, I have a heavy adjustable match buttstock and heavy barrel: 13.5lbs. Switching to a sporter barrel and A1 buttstock reduces the weight down to 9.2 lbs: acceptable for hunting.

Plenty of shooting records & championships have been achieved with Tubeguns, they'll shoot better than you. Here's one for ya: http://www.6mmbr.com/600nbrsa08.html

PS. People who want safeties usually get a Jewell with a bottom safety. Other triggers also offer this option.

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

I have checked on left handed tube guns. MAK has made left handed stocks in the past. They need a minimum quantity on order before they will make a run of left handers. I think it is 25 stocks. I checked last week and they only had half that on a list.
You can order a left handed Eliseo stock. They are available, but there is no adapter made to put an AR-15 stock on it.

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

I have been shooting a RTM for a few months now. Most who know me have seen me break everything but I have to say my Eiseo RTM has been holding up very well and here are some pics of me using it last weekend in a comp where I got 1st round hits @ 300, and 400 yards. The stage requiered you to have gun @ 90 degrees bolt up. I was able to rotate the bipod and stock and could shoot it almost as well as normal

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

I've always wondered if hanging a silencer off the end of a ABS barrel would make it "droop" more than a chrome-moly or stainless? Other words, is ABS as rigid as a steel counterpart?

"Silencer droop"? Nope.

These carbon fiber wrapped barrels are stiff, strong, long lasting and dissipate heat faster than solid steel barrels. Every carbon fiber barrel I've fired, and I've owned over a dozen of them, has been a dead-nuts accurate barrel. If you're going to go all out on a rifle build, I recommend that you seriously consider choosing a wrapped barrel as the way to go!

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

Okay . . . sorry for resurrecting such an old thread, but I have a question about these wrapped barrels . . . What happens when you bang one against a rock or the side of a tree? In other words, are these just range toys, or would you take one into the field?

Re: New Generation of Tube Guns

They have very successfully deployed and used in some of the nastiest conditions on this earth with our conventional/non-conventional forces in GWOT. In all seriousness, ABS barrels simply are excellent.
