Gunwerks has claimed to do what no one else has been able to do thus far - match the ranging of a Vectronix Terrapin at an equal or better price!! This could be the answer many have been waiting for! We will have to get some out in the hands of shooters to see how they perform in the field though to make the call. This new product introduction now means sale pricing on the current version - so grab them while they last!

**DISCOUNTED CURRENT MODELS LINKED AT BOTTOM OF POST**:

NEW GUNWERKS BR2500 RF INFO:
"Gunwerks is releasing an updated version of our BR2. The BR2500. This unit will keep all the same ballistic calculations (max 1400 Yards) as the existing BR2, but will range as good or better than the Vectronix Terrapin. Due to recent changes in FDA Guidelines, that has allowed us to increase the power output but maintain our proud classification of a Class 1 Eye Safe Laser. We have new hardware inside that has updated our send / receive diodes, making for quicker acquisitions at further ranges."

SHIP DATE: Shipping to start by August 15[SUP]th[/SUP]. You can place orders now.
PRICING: Same as BR2. MSRP will be $1799.
SKU / MODEL #: E1015
VISUAL DISTINCTION: Identical except the BR2500 Nameplate in corner

ADVANTAGES OVER SIG KILO 2400 ABS
*Output – Angle Only (SIG) vs Shoot to Range & Angle (BR2500)
*Programming – App Only (SIG) vs Program on Device (BR2500)
*Tuned – Tuned for Steel & Reflective Target (SIG) vs Tuned for Animals and Hunting Weather Conditions (BR2500)
*Beam Divergence & Algorithms: Tuned for use on Tripod (SIG) vs Tuned for handheld use (BR2500)
*Laser: Class 3R, not eye safe (SIG) vs Class 1, eye safe (BR2500) [IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/www.snipershide.com\/shooting\/core\/[email protected]"}[/IMG2]

Tag. Very interested to see how the ranging performance compares to a Terrapin. After my experience (bad) with the Sig Kilo 2000, I just can't bring myself to buy a 2400. If the new Gunwerks RF will range like a Terrapin, I'm in.

I'm liking the sound of this. I've been on the edge of picking up a Terrapin, but it's been the lack of US support that is keeping me from it. This might be the ticket.

It would want to be a lot better than the old one , the two units I tried were
most underwhelming . Was getting over 2000 yards with a 2400 AB while coaching
at an ELR course yesterday , using a tripod .

What does 'tuned for handheld use and animals really mean'? (It sounds like "we have a fat beam and figured out a good way to spin it") Based on that description as the critera, I'd argue that it's not going to range like a terrapin. The terrapin ranges as well as it does because the beam divergence is small, so you can hit targets in hard to reach areas without getting any reflection off of intermediate hills, etc. There are a few match directors who fool people every year as their giant beam returns the range 30 yards short of the actual target because of the way the environment presents itself.

For competition, steel shooting, I want very small beam divergence, and if I have to brace the rangefinder off the top of my optic (as I did my terrapin) that is really par for the course.

I owned both the first BR2 and the terrapin. I sold the BR2 because of lack of mil support (which has been fixed), and it didn't range as well as the terrapin. If it really can range as good as a terrapin, I'm all over it - But a terrapin is another class compared to everything else I've owned (steiner, bushnell, leica, BR2).

is there really $1800 difference to justify buying one over my BR2 (pre mil). The day I got it in the mail I stepped outside and ranged neighbor's cow at a little over 2700. then ranged some more in the same herd, varying enough to convince me it wasnt a fluke. That was years ago and since then, its not uncommon for me to get beyond the stated 2000 yards.

I use mine for hunting and dont see taking a shot any farther then my old one does. I could see it maybe if the ballistic program was extended past 1400.

But if I didnt already have the BR2, knowing how well they work, I would jump on it.,

I am interested in some input in this exact question. My gen 1 br2 just wuit working, and i am lost. So i am trying to decide which one of these new ones to get.
