I have been reading posts on the sight for about a year as my son-in-law has been twisting my arm to build a "real long range rifle". I have a AR10 that I built up, but only intended it to be an 800 yd rig which it does well (in a couple of outings I have tried). He finally won after making me a deal on a Defiance action that I fell in love with....even just to hold and caress it. I have never shot much beyond 500 yds with any regularity. The new rig is the Deviant Tactical, Benchmark 24 (308....I know, but I have lots of 308 match ammo and I can always barrelswap later), ARC rings, KRG Bravo, TriggerTech Diamond. I did get a good deal on a Athlon Cronus and so far love it, but I know some would recommend a better optic, but I ran out of budget and figured I would run with this until I know how serious I am. I am over 60, so starting late on this. Thanks to all of your who have posted great content. So far groups using factory ammo (began living fulltime in RV this year so no reloading until I land again) are 1/2 to 1 MOA, but figure that will improve as I have not been shooting like this for many months.
