New Guy from Alaska

Hi there, new guy here from up north in Alaska. I've recently gotten back into the hobby and last month dove into reloading, so I figured I'd join up and try to participate rather than just lurking.

So far I've been able to get out to 650yds with my 308 HMR and factory ammo, but I'm developing a new load of 175gr smk's that I'll try and push as far as I can (for the 1000yd range I have locally). Even though my wallet might be hurting, I've been having a helluva time so far and look forward to hanging out here in the future.

I'm in Anchorage, so Upper Susitna is a bit of a trek but not too bad.

If you can cut down on the number of stops and layovers the trip up isn't so bad. Summers are beautiful and there's a plethora of things to do and places to see (if the weather cooperates). The Princess tours and cruises are very popular, but I think those have all been cancelled this year.

Welcome to the Hide from Middle Georgia. Loved Alaska when Uncle sam gave me a little field trip up there in the mid 70's (Ft. Wainwright) . Always hoped to get back, never made it. Remember having to stop siring at one of the ranges for an hour so a moose cow and calf could saunter through the range area. Was my first and only time to see how much meat is on that frame. God what a beautiful state, and the Northern Lights still hold me in wonder to this day! Great to have you here and hope to read some great stories as you settle in here.

I have had the privilege of traveling to numerous places in your Great State for work in summer and in winter. I have spent time in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Barrow, Deadhorse, Cordova, Unalaska, King Salmon, Kotzebue. I have to say Cordova was my favorite.
