Hey there my name is Spencer and i am very new to long range shooting. I became addicted last weekend when I went on a hunting trip to shoot some turkeys but they where no where to be found. There was however AR500 targets set up from 100-1000 yards. There where a few guys there with VERY nice rifles including 2 surgeons, one in 6.5 creedmore and one in .260. Another custom rifle in 7mm mag and another very nice build on a surgeon action in .260. After reaching out to 400 with my AR15 (longest distance i have ever shot). One of the guts offered to let me shoot his surgeon. Well to say the least I am hooked. Before the weekend was over I had 3 guns for sale. They are gone and now I have me a rilfe. I have a Savage Model 10 in .308 with a 20' bull barrel. The barrel was threaded and has a troy muzzle brake on it. It also came with a EGW 20 MOA base. I have a buddy who pointed me in this direction and even sold me an awesome scope. It a Vortex Viper PST 6-4x50 FFP scope. I purchased some vortex 30mm scope rings and a vortex bubble level. Finally got it all put together today.
My daughter (2 years old) loves guns as much as I do and she wanted to see the new scope today. Of course the gun is unloaded and on safe.
I have been reading and reading on here for the last week and I cannot wait to learn more and more from you guys. I bought Bryan Litz book and am just about finished with it. I already had some .308 reloading stuff from a previous rifle that I had for hunting. I going to work up some loads tomorrow at work and hopefully make it to the range in the next week.
Thanks for all the great info.
