Just like to intoduce myself been lurking on and off the last few years and finally decided to join. My name is Jeremy and have been shooting since i was a young kid with grandpa and now 27. I am currently putting together a new gun for more precision shooting. Currently have an ar10 I built and a weatherby vanguard s2 both in .308, and really want a 6.5 Creedmoor. The gun im looking into and waiting for it to hit the market is the howa 1500 krg bravo with a 24" barrel. For optics I am still debating between the athlon ares btr or waiting for the ares etr. Currently only have access to 2-300 yard ranges but there are two 1000 yard ranges about 4 hours away from me. My shooting buddies and I have been trying to find a farmer that will let us set up 5-600 yard targets to practice. Im thinking the ares btr will do for now and then upgrade later and put the ares btr on my ar10 which is currently running a cabelas covenant 6-24 ffp. If anyone has any thoughts on this I would appreciate the input. Budget is right around the price of the ares. Will be in a better position to upgrade later as fiancé graduates at the end of this year with her masters in occupational therapy and I will be going back to finish my engineering degree once she starts working.
