New guy getting into it

Hey all. I've seen this site a few times in passing but finally had the time to sit and read a quite a few posts on here. Let me just say... Wow. A wealth of knowledge that I am looking forward to soaking up. I am new to the long range precision shooting aspect. I am not new to the shooting world. I ordered a Remington 700 SPS through my MEU military buy program for a great price. I am looking to really get out there in yardage. I don't really hunt, but that is something that I would like to do. I am not in any competitions, though I would also like to do that. Mainly I want to learn and apply what I have learned. Hopefully get good enough to teach those what I have learned. I do have a DPMS SASS that I love to shoot but to me, its missing something. I also have a 12 gauge Charles Daly tactical pump shotgun, a Centurian Arms Sporter 39 AK47. I have ordered all the parts I need for two AR15 to build when I get home from deployment. I am really looking forward to going to the range with the Remington though.

I look forward to hearing from you guys when I need help, advice and otherwise and I also look forward to learning from all of you.

great choice for a beginning rifle. You can make upgrades as you go. I would strongly encourage you put a Timney 510 on your rifle. Might as well start off with an excellent trigger. Have fun!

Thank you FALex. I was actually going to make my first upgrade the McMillan A5 adj stock. But since you mention it, are the triggers on the 700 SPS bad enough to warrant replacing right off the bat? I guess looking at the trigger and a stock at the same time wont be out of the question if I can find an A5 stock cheap enough to make up for the difference. Thanks for the input!
