Hello,

Just joined the forum and about to get into some long distance shooting for the first time. I've shot pistols and CQB rifles for a long time. Finally pulled the trigger on an LMT 6.5 Creedmoor 24". Have Magpul bipod and a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27 scope arriving this week. Looking forward to learning a ton (on here and at the range).

I got the LMT 6.5 Long Range. Essentially the AR-10 306MWS lower with a 24" 6.5 barrel, and LMT's DMR stock. I just got the scope and bipod in yesterday and will be heading to the range on Sunday to zero it in. I will attach a photo. Yes the scope is flat earth and the gun is black:). I got a deal on the scope and I'm not trying to win any beauty pageants...

I had setup Magpul offset BUIS on it, however the Razor's windage knob blocks the sight line, so I'm going to take them off and try to find a lower profile reflex/red-dot setup I can mount on the 45 degree M-Lok mount... Any advice?

Like I mentioned I am new to long distance shooting, but I'm excited to get this thing out and start getting used to it!

I will be curious to hear your results from that barrel. I have a Gen I MWS with a 16" chrome lined barrel and I am debating picking one up. The LMT is a great rifle and mine has served me well with my accuracy being around 1 to 1.5 MOA to 600 yards using FGMM 168. Gas guns feel different and mine performs best when I load the bipod (I have an Atlas bipod with the spiked feet to help me out). I have a Nightforce SHV 4-14x50 on mine and it is perfect for my needs.

If you plan to suppress your rifle, you may need a heavier buffer and recoil spring. These guns tend to be overgassed and that extra pressure from a silencer can cause cycling issues. I can't shoot match ammo with my Specwar 7.62 without problems. Surplus ammo is fine.

Good luck and let us know how it shoots!

Nice! I have a 16" LMT 5.56 AR-15 that I have been extremely happy with, which is why I went LMT for this rifle.

Currently no plans to suppress, although that's largely because I've not done any tax stamp guns yet, and my local shop isn't super savvy. Good to know!

Thanks for the reply and info!

Got the scope dialed in at 200 yards on Sunday. Didn't have enough ammo with me to go any father or shoot any clean groups, but I definitely enjoyed myself and learned a fair bit. Will be heading back out hopefully this weekend so I'll have real results/photos/etc... so far though I really like the rifle and the scope.
