Taking a gamble on a new cartridge. The dies came in first, so I started resizing brass and preparing to start loading. Obviously, I'm excited to see if this idea works out!

Been shooting a 25-223 for a couple years....you will really like it....I would like another one that is really lightweight since this one weighs about 15 pounds.

H335 with a 110gr accubond yields me 2700fps on the nose at the muzzle. I killed two antelope with that load a couple seasons ago.
This doe at 186 yards with a chest shot, she ran about 40 yards and tipped over.

And this buck at 236 yards. Shot through the shoulders and he dropped.

    It doesn't stop there either.
With 85gr Nosler Ballistic tips at about 3050fps I have kills with it on p-dogs slightly passed 900 yards.

I believe this one was at 721 yards.

    Nice, Doug! And thanks!

I haven't heard of 25-223 until now, but it sounds there are many names for the same thing. 25-45 AR, 25-223, 25-45 Sharps ... this gives me a better idea where to start with load recipes. Hopefully I can find one with the powders I already have.

Many years back I had a little SAKO sporter, on the short Vixen action in .25-.222 Rem mag. IIRC it was at that times possibly called a .25 Copperhead?
It came with a set of custom dies, and load data. Forget the data but it was a great killer on deer/antelope with 87 gr standard Hornady slugs.

Mine was maybe 8 pounds total with scope. A very light weight rig for that era. Later turned it into a really light weight 6x47 with a slim, 22" HART barrel

Neat little cartridge. But for the crowd that thinks you need a .300 Ultra Mag to shoot a deer these EFFICIENT little rds have a real up hill battle of acceptance.

I was drawn to 24-45 Sharps because it's a simple neck-up from .223, no fire-forming or case trimming or anything special. Now I'm doubting I'll be able to improve upon the Sharps load of a Speer HotCor 87gr going 3000fps, at least in a magazine-fed AR platform. DK made a wise choice in going with a bolt gun.
