I got a chance to shoot my new .264LBC for the first time today. It was built by LBC around a 20," 1/8 twist barrel. I set it up with one of Les' 4 Rail fore-ends instead of with one of the round carbon fibre or aluminum configurations that are more typical. I added an Atlas bipod, PRS stock and an HDMR scope then fired a bunch of Black Hills rounds with the 123SMK bullet. The rifle comfortably shot .5MOA or below off the pod and a rear bag.
I know this is nothing new to the 6.5mm crowd but I'm amazed how nice this setup is. Its much more pleasant to shoot than my .308 and .223 ARs; much less recoil and noise than the former (even with a brake) and smoother than the latter. The rifle also feels better "balanced" (for want of a better expression) than either. I understand the difference in ballistics as well but couldn't get beyond 200 yards this first day so will have to wait to comment on that.
If this rifle shoots as well at 600 as it does 1 to 200 it may well become my go to platform for fun and practice.
I'm sure this isn't anything new for the alternative AR crowd. I just enjoyed the experience and thought I'd share. Hope everyone else had an equally pleasant day.
