Last 1 I lost was 1000x more durable

I left the Leatherman brand a long time ago. This is an updated version of the model that I've had for several years. The edges are rounded so it doesn't feel uncomfortable when using it as a plier. I can squeeze it without it feeling like it's cutting into my hand.

    Original PST for the win.

I’ve had this one since I stole it from my old man’s dashboard somewhere around 2000. It’s a warhorse that has taken some serious abuse (though maybe we can’t expect it to live up to DeerSniper levels of abuse). I use it constantly.
Shortly after high school, I tossed it in my tackle box on a fishing trip to FL with some buddies. We ended up doing some saltwater fishing, wading out to a beach sandbar in waist deep water with it in my swim trunks pocket. At the end of the day, the beers were flowing and I tossed it in my tackle box and totally forgot about it for ~3-6 months. When I rescued it, it looked like it had been pulled up from the titanic. A few days soaking in PB Blaster and a brass brush, and it looked like brand new again with only slight discoloration at the hinge on a few of the attachments.

I’ve carried it in my right front pocket for ~12 years since cleaning it up. Been thinking I’m going to give it to my son eventually. I keep a newer model Leatherman in my vest at work, and it’s very obviously not the same quality.

Get on eBay. You can still get one with the original belt case for $65.

I broke the handle off my shovel, I was trying to terminate a rather fast creature… I to was using the wrong tool for the job,, ( needed a shotgun).,,,, anyway… any chance I could get some boobies ..??🤔🤔😂😂
See your local plastic surgeon. I'm sure he'll do the implants for you if you have the money. What size are you going to get?

If you ever want to identify the best pliers for a particular task, check Knipex first. If they don't make it, just try whatever is left.

Their diagonal cutters are tight and sharp enough to cut copy paper straight out o the pack.
We still call em dykes 😏

Me too, but we never know when some millennial might be following and not know what the colloquial term really means, so I use Amazon approved search criteria.

Still the best pliers I have ever used. If I had a pair of Knipex Cobra pliers in 1983, I would have carpet bombed the Channellock factory.

I got a Wave replaced under Warranty a few months ago, snapped the pliers on the new one just now (same as Burts one).
What a POS, there’s no way they should’ve broken the way I was using them, the older model suffered a lot more abuse.

Will send Leatherman an email and see what they say.

Sad thing is I don't think there is. I think he was wishing for one. Hence the 'maybe' and 'one day'. If you find anything post it up.
In my hour or so of looking so far I haven’t found anything or even any rumors about a Knipex multitool, unfortunately. I have a few pair of their pliers and they’re amazing. If they did ever release a multi tool I’d be close to the front of the line for it

Since some mentioned Klein, this past week I went to grab my Klein linesman pliers for something and most of the handle grip material cracked and fell off. I knew they were getting rough, since they’re 30-ish years old, but wasn’t expecting that.

So I looked up how to send them in under warranty. Klein always had a lifetime warranty on their hand tools. Guess what? It’s now 1 year and covers factory defects only. Wtf?

I guess I’ll just buy some plastidip for these.

So which brand am I supposeed to buy (Seriously). Sometimes I just gotta ask the dumb question.
Guy I work with has 2 new Leatherman tools and really likes them both. Pretty sure one is a Wave, not sure what the other is

Another good brand is SOG. I’ve got one of their terminus pocket knives that’s really good for the $$

    That’s gay.

A guy used to be able to walk into home cheapo and swap em out.

Anybody have any experience with Gerber multi-tools? Now this is going back 45 years, but Gerber used to make wonderful knives. What I see of their knives today doesn't impress.

    Anybody own one of these?

I still use my GWOT issued Gerber. New ones felt “cheap”

Dang, missed that....so, you're happy with it?
I've had it for several years now and it's never failed me. When I use it as a pair of pliers, it feels better than the Leatherman tools that I've had. The handle's edges are rounded and shaped in a way that I can apply more pressure on the pliers for holding whatever I need.

The different tools are easy to access and use. The knife holds a good edge as far as a pocket knife would. For more serious cutting I use a dedicated knife. In a pinch, the tool's knife cuts most of what I need.

The pocket tool is my EDC.

Check it again, Klein covers hand tools for the "normal life of the product". I bet a box of bullets they'll cover it.

Now if it's worth sending it in for something you can easily and inexpensively do yourself, that's another question.

I’d take it into a Lowe’s and try and do a swap.

Wow, that’s weird. I must have had the wrong page when I read that.

Edit: …”Proof of purchase from an Authorized Klein Tools Distributor is required for all warranty claims.”

That's what I'm talking about. I still use mine. It's about 30 years old now. Great tool.
They are seriously great. A bunch of good condition examples for anyone looking right now on eBay for ~$36-40. I’ve been thinking about buying a set of disassembly wrenches (also available on eBay) and a few extra pieces for mine to alter it to my liking. I’ve literally never used the awl, and my file could probably stand to be replaced. I’ve used it for much more strenuous projects than I’m sure that little file was intended for…

A buddy gave me one of his, I use the shit out of them. I bought another years later and they aren’t as nice and rattle more. The silver is gay too, the OG blacked out set is much better.
Back in the day we would wait for a class lecture then use a gerber to yank the nose hair out of the guy to your left. Then he did the same to the guy to his left. Ahh the good ol days.

    no shit there i was-

Sicily DZ….after plf did equipment check. Leatherman case was open and empty. Fuck! Start trek to rally point across the DZ in the darkness. About halfway there, i stop to check the compass, taking a knee. When i went to get up, i placed my hand down to belp myself up and felt something cold and smooth. Picked it up- and it was a leatherman tool identical to mine except it didnt have my name engraved on it.

I like to imagine the guy that lost that one found mine. Still got that fuxker in a drawer, too.

Bought an Arc about 6 months ago and really like it. Feels like an iPhone in the hand and the main tools are all accessible with one hand. The magnacut knife is a wicked little unit too. I haven’t been overly impressed with some of their products the last few years, but the Arc is a keeper
