New lee app press

Woah... lee came out with something new.
I thought they only ceased production on their old products these days, not come out with something new.

First thoughts, looks like its trying to imitate a coax? Over head wishbone handle, two guide rods in back, primer catch cup.

To me looks like deprime, swage, at the very least. Rapido !

Possibly gtg on sizing ? For maybe 223 at the least.

Deprime and swaging time in half looks like.

Ripped good ideas from forster and Dillon if I see it right. Was having thoughts of a chain drive doing the same thing but honestly their idea is better.

It's not meant for actual reloading, just processing... Automatic processing press. I want one just to deprime before I send my cases to the tumbler/sonic cleaner. I dont swage bullets, I usually don't bother with crimped primer brass.

Yesterday's collected brass, sorted.
Over 500 223 and 1/3 to half will need swaged, the good stuff.

Lake city will need swaged and it is good brass.
Depending on what the range is selling for cheap 75% may need done.

A faster way would be better.
As far as anything else being done on this press not sure but it will take any die.

I will take one for the 2 functions alone but will see about others.

I don't have preconceived notions of what it is no good at doing.

Look's like Lee Precision is just trolling for pre-orders.
They just keep stretching their release date 2 weeks at a time.

I don't tie up shooting money on back orders or promises.

Looks like thier express shell holder may be usefull to speed things up even in a standard single stage?

A bunch of people in the lee reloading group on facebook have some. I'm personally waiting for a while because I dont want to work out the bugs for lee

I'm pretty sure it will see pocket swaging duty, trimming duty and may try sizing with expander button removed and run a mandrell after?

Will see what all it will handle.
Video on resizing 223 looked a bit rough but spliting case and neck work may be better, have not yet ran mandrells.

Running 3-500 piece's of 223 or 308 eats a lot of time and this may help.

So I received my app press yesterday.

First impressions,
Small,
Plastic parts, (they disclosed that in description),
The Xpress shell holders do not match hight / thickness of standard shell holders, you will have to reset dies.

Instructions seem slightly vague will see after scrounging up mounting hardware and a base.

I have been using mine a couple months.
had planned to use it for decap with universal decap die. I put the four tube lee case feeder on. Pretty straight forward. I have had no problems with the x shell holder so it makes the process much quicker.
i also was able to resize 9mm cases on the press with no probems IF you lube them. I used Hornady one shot and according to instructions let it dry. 9mm cases sized easily with no hang ups.
I played around swaging some primer pockets. Worked as advertised. Use the press within limitations and you should be happy
I will try sizing 45acp cases and if it doesn’t work I’m still pretty pleased.

I plan on tring to size 223 less expander so there is no up force and less downward force.

I purchased a Sinclair mandrel die to set neck tension .

Turning 1 step into 2 steps ran twice as fast sounds like chasing your tail to me but trying to tighten up ar groups.

If it will get me 1/8 inch better groups I will consider all worth it. I it helps smooth out load difference between headstamps it will be worth it.

Just one thing to play with.

I didn't get a 4 place tube feeder.

Pop up a picture of your rig.

I did the APP on an inline fab mount. Added the 4 tube feeder and a mighty armory universal decap die.
quickly process a bunch of 223/5.56 decap and 2nd pass for swaging.
I tend to wet tumble so need to pop the primers unless you want to dry for hours.

Well the saga hits a stop.

Hornady universal decapper won't clear the handle.

Looks like my lyman would work if the stem were not broken.

I set up a die I had to not touch shoulder and adjusted the expander down and after a lot of tweeking decap is functioning.

So far pita.

So now it is running a sinclair mandrell like butter with the feeding hickup occasionally.

A little sizing wax in ever other neck runs smooth.

Decapper and mandrell is worth the price in time saved.

So got notification and ordered the app swage kit from midway and some more lock ring quick change parts.

I tried setting up an unused lee 223 sizing die with expander removed.

Not sure what went wrong but would not bump shoulder to 1.458 where I run it.

Any ideas on how to get a die to bump on this without expander?

I think mine had 3?

I now run swaging dies, Sinclair mandrell, decapping with good results in 223 and 308 on the swager.

I decapp everything on it.

So for those three functions it was worth it.

I need to make a spacer for each caliber so setup is quicker the adjustment is figgity.

I don't think I will size brass on it.

I know you guys are looking for a diamond in the rough, and I respect that, but that's one ugly fucking machine.. it looks like it has a sledgehammer head for the handle. Lol 😆 unless I'm just looking at it incorrectly..

God forgive me! I ordered the APP erector set, the tube things, and the round widget. I'm going to use it just to de-capp all my brass. I'll be using an FW de-capping die, which likely costs more than the Lee APP. I too am mounting it on an Inline Fabrication Q/C plate. I just had to come up with a better solution to de-capping than placing each case on a shell holder, running a lever, and then taking it off. Talk about monotonous.

I've been using an app for several months now, it's my first reloading setup. I use it for every stage loading 6.5 creedmoor and 9mm and have had good results. I've loaded 150 of the 6.5 and 400 9mm so far using all Lee equipment. I just wanted to put together a cheap first set up that can do the job, that's within my budget, and it's worked like a charm with no issues.

I get consistent seating depth but I've only neck sized so far, I seat to a CBTO length of 2.240 and it checks out on my Hornady CBTO gauge after every round loaded. I'm really new to shooting so my plan is to work up to more advanced reloading techniques as my need for accuracy increases as I get further out. I've only put 132 rounds through my rifle to date over three trips to a local range and this is my first rifle.

Even though I got a chuckle out of this press when I first seen it on here, I started to investigate it a little more and actually ordered one. Also ordered a dillon case feeder for it and mounted it to one of my benches with a inline fab mount and put a piece of rigid conduit in a flange and mounted that to the bench for the case feeder.. This setup is for now a decapping setup exclusively. All worked pretty well for a short time, now it seems to have an issue with fully returning to center over the shell holder. Kind of annoying, I emailed Lee and they are sending me out some replacement parts, hopefully this fixes the problem. Lee's customer service seems to be top notch, this is only my second Lee product..
