Hey, an industry contact from a well established manufacturer asked me today if I thought there would be interest in an M110 barrel that's LR308/DPMS gen 1 compatible. Proposed details are 1-10 twist, with a .875 gas journal and single rail steel gas block, chrome lined. The idea is to make another option that's compatible with KAC/Griffin M110 suppressors, without KAC markup, or using companies like SR25/HTX who are kinda under the radar options that are hard to get ahold of and don't have a dedicated storefront of their own.

What say you, if this popped up from a reputable manufacturer at a decent price, is this something you'd consider? What details would you change?

Note: nothing is for sale, they haven't made a single one of these, I'm working on talking them into a one-stop upgrade option

The best M110 is the M110K anyway, so collectors and poverty-cloners seem to be the main market for 20” M110s.

The JSOC SR-25s are better guns because they don’t have that retarded big pickle US Army HPT requirement, that micro-fractures bolts before they’re even issued out and causes bolt failures in a rifle that never had those problems before.

These are just some of the things to consider when assessing the demand in the market for M110s. It may be larger than I think, or it may be much smaller.

I think if they move forward with this keeping as close to the KAC dimensions would be the best bet. i.e. keep with the .750 gb journal and keep the shoulder in the correct location to work with KAC, HTX, Nefarious arms gas blocks.

As for me I would love to see a chrome lined bore on an aftermarket sr25 barrel. If I knew spares were available I wouldn’t feel bad about abusing the factory barrel.

Another thing to consider is the high bar HTX/SR25 Cartel has set. Their stuff is very well made. If someone wanted part of this market they would need to be putting out quality stuff at a comparable price point.
Just my 2 cents

After re-reading your initial post I see this would be for gen1 DPMS compatibility. Don’t know much about DPMS but if their barrels aren’t compatible with SR25 or clone uppers I would say there is very little market for something like that.

Why would a guy do a poverty build and then buy a 2500 dollar suppressor?
Most cloners are trying to keep as close to original as possible.

One for a safe queen/Instagram model and one to shoot on the cheap?

I think demand would be kinda low tbh

m110 cloner market is really small

plus I thought criterion made a m110ish barrel already
