Brown truck dropped this off today. Roughed it out real quick for bedding and snapped a few pics. Sorry about the background. The pool is out for repair.

Kudos to Tom and his crew for developing a top notch stock for this rifle. I can't wait to get it bedded and take it to the range. The feel of it is SO MUCH better than the OEM stock.

Thanks Tom.

BTW, I think my wife has been peeking at the Hide over my shoulder. She asked me, "You're going to paint that, right?"

I'll post better pics when its properly attired.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

IIRC, It was $475 base and then I added options like flush cups, 90% carbon fiber, bipod stud... seemed reasonable when I looked at the options: Robertson Composites was over $750 when I looked at them and Roedale makes an AI lookalike for $900 + shipping.

I've done nothing but set the action in the stock (it's not even bedded)and run the action screws snug and there is a night and day difference over the OEM. The Manner's just has this heft and solid feeling. Well, if you look at his home page, he has a Ford truck resting on one of his stocks suspended between two steel channels.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

That looks great!!

Funny, they must have shipped the coyote T4's in a batch, my T4A surprised me when I went to take the trash out this evening! Its pic mocked up (pre bedding) is in the T4A thread already....

I believe he was referring to the Roedale Chassis (AICS style for Tikka), not the pictured stock. The pictured stock is made in KC MO, USA:

Are you going to shoot it prior to bedding and then after bedding just to see whether there is a difference?

</div></div>

Yeah, It'll get paint. (My wife, both my sons and my daughter have ALL said that now!) I'll probably Krylon the stock for now. Hunting season starts in a couple of weeks. Then Duracoat everything. I keep going back and forth on whether to camo the whole rig, or do a desert GAP w/FDE or coyote metal. I'll mull that over while trying to find elk.

I will bed it tonite after work. My rifle has a Tubbs Rem. 700 recoil lug, so it's not even a close drop-in. And one thing I learned about this rifle in the OEM stock, it really needs to be bedded well and cinched down tight. I'm sure the Manner's will help with that though.

Ahhhhh i see now why you are bedding it.

Did yours always need bedding even from right out of the box?

It really does look great!

BTW i was only joking about the paint i think it looks great in the Coyote.

This gun (as well as a 300WSM Tikka T3 lite I had, but returned to Beretta), never shot consistently well out of the box. It would have moments of brilliance followed by much despair. Itried a lot of things, but until I replaced the barrel, put on the Rem. 700 style lug and pillar bedded the stock (including bedding the bottom plastic), it would not shoot consistently well. Now, it's a lazer. Now I know immediately if I make a mistake. Before I always wondered, "Is that me, or the rifle?"

It is my belief that these rifles, in heavy recoiling calibers, should at least be pillar bedded and could probably benefit from some sort of recoil lug modification. My stock aluminum recoil lug had an over .010" deep recess in it after only 100 rds. from being pummeled by the action. How is that supposed to lead to repeatability? After talking to a few people I decided to have the 700 lug added when I rebarreled. I'm very happy with the final package.

BTW, my first Tikka T3 was a .270 Win. It is now my boy's hunting rifle. It will shoot 3/4 MOA 5 shot groups out to 400 yds. w/ 150g. Federal Fusion. That's what made me start looking at recoil levels causing movement in the stock with regard to consistent accuracy in these rifles.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

So when we gonna go shoot it with the new stock?

You Keep threating to go out to Rogers lake and get some distance. I need to try my Kimber LPT a little further than 200 yards. Looks awesome though.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Well, let's see.. Still need to bed it, load more ammo... supposed to be 6 degrees on Sunday morning, 18 on Monday morning... 2-3" of snow tonite... am I starting to sound wimpy?

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Tossed some Krylon on it today cuz it looked nekkid! Not super thrilled with this, but it'll get me through hunting season. I'll Duracoat it after the season is done. Probably Desert GAP w/ FDE metal.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

No, not yet. Supposed to go out sometime this week with my shooting partner/spotter/work partner (he just built a Rem. 700 Sendero 300WM), but he's building a house for his family while they live in a 27' trailer with 1 electric heater. So, as you can imagine (from the snow on the ground in my pics) he's a little preoccupied at the moment. Dammit! I wish he'd get his priorities straight!

If he does not shake free soon, I will go without him.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Well, it bugged me enough to go ahead and paint it now. I like this better. Practical.

I'm scheduled to go to the range in the morning if we don't get freezing rain. I can't wait to shoot it. I love the feel of just laying behind it. Feels so solid and ergonomic and LOP is SO much better.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Talked to them today. Sounds like mine is still 2 weeks out. Been told this a couple times, but I have run a shop that was swamped and know where they are coming from. It sucks but hopefully it will be worth the wait.

I think Tom needs to open up a Canadian shop to help catch up and it just so happens I know a guy that could run it.....

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Well, after much drama (including finding out I had 2 different height Seekins rings yesterday AM) got out this morning to shoot the new setup.

Shot at a place I've never shot before. A friend has a 100 yard range out back of his house. It drops probably 6-8 feet from the bench to the targets, so I spent a bit of the day trying to figure out how to get enough bag under the butt. We finally (at the end of the day) put a sandbag between the bench and the concrete blocks holding it up. Then I could use my bipod and standard sock.

All day the rifle showed signs, 2 into 1 hole, 3 shots almost touching, of wanting to shoot, but I was just battling this vertical thing from having 2 big sandbags under the butt. Not one 5 shot group over 1", most in the .4-.7" range. All the real deviation was vertical and I've never had vertical with this load before. I could tell it wanted to do more. Well, once we adjusted the bench, BAM! Last group of the day was the last 3 rds. I had of my proof load. It shot into .310"

I learned that this stock likes to be driven different than the OEM stock. The Tikka stock does not like to be pulled into the shoulder at all. If I do that, I get erratic POI. The Manners prefers to be pulled back fairly hard. When I do it right, I can see my shots at 100 yds! I've never seen my shots closer than 500 yds. with this rifle before.

I LOVE THIS STOCK.

We're now going to try to get into our distance range on Wed. Had some H1000 & R22 loads w/208 Amax that showed promise.

I came home with a BIG smile on my face.

Manners ROCKS!

p.s. Big thank you to Scott @ Liberty Optics for straightening out my ring problem so I could go out today.

I made it in my garage (with a drill motor and a belt sander). Slightly less sophisticated equipment than 300Sniper.

Well, looks good so far. But anybody can shoot at 100 yds.

I'd like to get at least one dropchart figured out. So, we'll see how it does on Wed.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

I am planning on ordering one, but could someone explain to me what the flush cup means or is and what is the advantage of getting the 90% carbon fiber upgrade?

Thanks,

Jordan

Flush cups allow quick disconnect sling mounts to be used.

90% CF means that the ration of carbon fiber to fiberglass is higher resulting in a stronger/lighter stock.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Wow. Really? That was a bit of a wait. Glad it's finally on the way.

Got out to 1070 yds. on Fri. 208 Amax over 76.2g H1000 @ 2880 fps. 2 shots to hit steel with JBM dope out to 1000 yds. (almost all windage. 5-10 mph left-right gusts). Hit 5 of 6 once on steel. Approx. 8" vert and 12" horiz group on steel. I'm happy considering I haven't tweaked this load too much.

Pics when you get your stock!

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Well I got home today and fed ex had left a final notice at my door. I checked the tracking number and it says the guy tried to deliver it yesterday twice. Says the second time was about 45 mintues later then the first time. But of course there was no notice at the door. So I have to wait until tomorrow then pick it up probably at lunch time. At least it is in town now.....finally lol.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

Got my stock today. Had to do a little opening up for the barrel. It is pretty good now but still a little tight. So I am going to bed it like it is with a little bit of tape around the barrel to free float it nicely. The bottom plastic snaped in perfectly. Also gonna do a digital camo job in it too. Pics coming soooooon.

Re: New Manners T4 on my Tikka

I havent painted mine yet. Not sure I am going to do it now or just leave it OD green. Still havent even been out to shoot it yet. Winter has hit and I havent felt like going to the range to play in the snow.
