Hello! I recently returned to Florida after spending a couple of years in the northeast, and decided, after visiting my parents and going to an outdoor range for the first time, that I was going to build a rifle. I spent a bunch of quality time in my backyard up north with a scoped CZ air rifle, chrono, notes, calculator , and a dozen kinds of pellets learning the basics of shooting, but it’s been a few years since then and I’m expecting to need to relearn most of that...
I’ve been using the Hide as a reference during the planning process, and after a lot of hours and intermittent swearing, eventually settled on: a SanTan Tactical receiver set, Dracos 18” rifle-lengh gas barrel in 6.5 Grendel, Rubber City Armory adj gas BCG (type I, per Dracos‘ suggestion/requirement), Smoke Composites handguard and stock, triggertech trigger, standard weight carbine buffer and spring (for starters)... plus tools, etc. Currently waiting for parts to arrive, and then it will be time for more reading up on the build process... Also need to choose a scope, mount, and muzzle brake; working on that in the meantime. I just hope the whole thing is as gorgeous in reality as it is in my head!
Other than that... I do software stuff for a living, and, under more normal conditions, I’d probably be planning for ski race season rather than trying to decide how far I want to go on 3gun or maybe precision rifle or...
