Hello there just thought I would say hello and introduce myself. I've always been interested in firearms and shooting, however, recently I have had an obsession with studying and learning the art of long range shooting. I'll be reading much more than posting as I think one can learn more by listening than talking. I have found a few ranges close to me (private ranges) with shooting up to 1400 meters. I went out and bought a Barrett M99 in 50bmg. I think this was a rash purchase as I quickly learned the lack of available ranges to shoot at, none the less I have found a few places to shoot at 1000 meters plus. I also bought a 338 lapua, again a rash purchase. I knew the 50 cal and the 338 lapua are great for long range shooting but to be honest I just thought they would be fun guns to shoot and in the end that is all I'm looking to do. I will be acquiring more rifles as time and money allow for. What kind of rifles do most of you guys use for long range shooting 1000m plus? Do you think buying the 50 was a mistake? or is having the 50 cal just for fun the way to go? The way I look at it is that you can never have enough guns but I also think they need to be used. I'm not one to purchase a gun and let it sit. Anyways thanks and have a good day
