I was directed here by some folks on MDShooters.com; A little bio about myself.

In 2002 I enlisted in the Corps. I served 8 years as an 0311, several tours, including Iraq (Op Phantom Fury) with FAST Co. (We backed up 8th Marines as they pushed through, that and other things I'm not sure I can talk about). I spent time in FAST Co, 1st Bn 8th Marines and CBIRF (Don't ever go there... ever...). After the Corps I joined a local fire department. I am currently a volunteer firefighter/paramedic, and seeking employment into a police academy.
I'm 28, twice divorced, and I have a beautiful 8 yr old daughter (Though she lives with her mom). I live in Bowie, MD.

My USMC training includes 0311, Cross-training as 0331, 8152, 8154 as well as DM training.

So why am I here? I currently delve into the realm of "standard" shooting; I own several pistols, 2 ARs, a "short range" 30'06 Savage for deer, and a shotgun. One of my AR platforms I consider long range (Custom Rifle, Colt HBAR base with a WOA 20" SDM barrel chambered with a wylde 5.56 chamber).

I want to get back into LR shooting. My std issue was the M14 DMR, Beautiful rifle, but after shooting the M40A3 with the STA platoon.... I couldn't go back.

My goal is to find/build/have built a M40A3 chambered in the std 7.62mm. That and to talk to a bunch of like-minded LR shooters. I also want to shoot competitively, any information in that regards I gladly accept.

I fully expect some "newbie" "hazing", just don't go too far

With your service record, you've pretty much bypassed the hazing. Lol. Anyway, if you're looking for an M40A3 or even an A5, GA Precision is pretty common in the long range shooting community. There are other precision rifle outfits too. It all depends on what you want. Welcome to the Hide.

Welcome to the hide. This place is a wealth of information and is chock full of good people.

Fair warning, it's addictive. Won't be long and you'll be buried in the reloading thread learning how to hand load and spending endless hours reviewing the gunsmithing thread learning how to bed that Savage...and all the other rifles you'll be tempted to pick up...

Check out the firearms for sale thread, M40A3 clones come up from time to time.

Where do you shoot in MD? Maybe I'll see you around some time.

Mostly in La Plata, though I prefer to shoot with someone.. perfect place to meet someone too... So, given ample time I can go nearly anywhere. just hit me up here on on MDS. I use the same username
