Hi everyone, wanted to stop in and introduce myself. Though I've spent a number of years with airsoft and paintball guns I haven't owned a real gun yet. I know, airsoft sucks, but it's the only thing I could use while I lived with my parents, so I fugured it was better training than nothing.

I finally got a decent job (warehouse at Walmart and I get a discount!) and wanted to pick up a good gun to start my sniper training. I already bought the scope (got a great deal on a sniper scope from ebay, it's a us military production scope made of titanium, retails for about $5k and I got it for $400) and want to get a rifle to put it on.

Right now I'm still trying to find a 1000 yard sniper training range in my area (Columbus, OH) and was hoping to find a rifle that can shoot one inch (moa) groups at 1000 meters/

I'm planning on applying to the secret service one of these days to get a job as a sniper so I want to start my training right away. I was thinking about getting a 50 calaber sniper rifle to start with but I don't have that kind of money. The gun that I found that is in my range is here- Sniper Rifle

I know that a brake is important on a sniper rifle so this looks like a great choise for me. Does a brake also work as a silencer, as I'd want to be able to have experience shooting a silenced rifle. Also, is the tasco a good scope? I was thinking that maybe I should sell the scope I bought on ebay to buy some tactical gear if this rifle's scope is good.

Thanks to everyone for your help. ONE SHOT, ONE KILL!

(P.s.: if anyone knows where I can get one of those molon labe and infidel badges I'd like to put them on my range jacket. thanks)

Faster, Run Faster!

Don't bother walking, or even crawling. Just start RUNNING! You'll get there, just shortly after you find your feet.

We have faith in you!

(extra buttered, for me please)

Yo, I'm planning on applying to the secret service to get a job as a snipergangsta so I want to start my training right away. it's got to be worth at least $10k if you get it for $4-500 you would be getting an even more smoking deal than you got on your scope.

Re: New member, sniper in training saying hi

come on, help the guy out. on a budget like his you all know a counter sniper scope is the best choice for him. buy that first, dont even worry about the rifle for now. but that sniper rifle in your link is a perfect transition from airsoft to the real world of firearms. save them pictures and include them on your resume to the CIA along with your work history at walmart, you will be a shoe in for sniper division. oh and that muzzle brake will greatly reduce any report your rifle produces, plus the people next to you at the range will love you for it. i would also suggest you start to develop a good handload for that .22 mag. buy your press, try a dillon 1050xlt-dlx M-VII, then get your dies after buying the press. good luck and welcome to the site.

You should get Molon Labe tattooed on your chest and post a pic of it for us to see. You will be an official hide member then.

I'd respond to this thread, but SOMEBODY put me under a three day curse...

Re: New member, sniper in training saying hi

I don't know. I think you need to get the boonie hat next, after the scope. Then a ghillie suit. No point in getting a rifle until you've got the proper attire. Then go to your local farmer's Co-op and get a hay bale. Extract pieces of hay from the bale and carefully stick them in at all angles of your boonie.

Next, you need to train with your new gear. With ghillie and boonie on, crawl to a strategic location where you can test real people. I like to try hiding from my mail man, but garbage men, kids walking home from school, whoever you have available. If you can lie in hiding along a hedgerow, flower border, ditch etc without these people seeing you, you might be ready!

Re: New member, sniper in training saying hi

Your not EVER going to be able to buy a "sniper" rifle because YOU ARE NOT A SNIPER.

What is the manufacturer of your scope? I want to see pics of this alleged $5000 scope....

Its probably one of those super awesome barska SWAT's or Counter snipers. you know how expensive those things are. PICS OR ITS NOT REAL!

Re: New member, sniper in training saying hi

KYSHOOTER im assuming its a counter sniper...they are the only company on the face of the earth that believes that assinine approach to marketing works. But im gonna throw this out there. im thinking this is either:

LL
CKA
or 41

Re: New member, sniper in training saying hi

Thanks again for the help and encouragement, I'm still the high bidder on the sniper rifle auction. And you guys are pretty good, the scope I bought on ebay is a counter sniper scope! I feel sorta stupid, though, as I foiund out after that auction ended that I could have bought one cheaper online.

I have a question about the brake on that magnum rifle I'm bidding on. I saw a guy at a range with a brake that sorta looked like what you'd seen on the barrel of an old wwii tank. Can I buy one of those for the rifle?

Also, and this may be a stupid question, but I can't help wondering. What's a shide? I want to be able to answer that question if the service asks me where I got my information about being a sniper.
