Hello folks, I have a Remington Woodsmaster 30.06, you guys/gals probably know what it looks like, so I want to build my self a "sniper" rifle (granted, not the best option), but moneywise, it'll have to do. I am already working on a tactical stock I'm building for it. I am also working on a suppressor for it. I do have a few questions, and probably will have some more along the way:

1) what would be the best size threading to use?
2) Scope range, as I'll probably be shooting 300-500 yards
3) barrel is 21.5 inches, should I go shorter??

Many Thanks!!!

Re: new member

welcome,

1) i would thread to whatever size the suppressor is. Most woodmasters I have seen don't have a large enough barrel for them to be threaded anything above 1/2x28.

2) scope: vortex viper or something along those lines.

3) actually i would try to trade off or sell the woodmaster and get an SPS Tactical in 308...shoots the same bullets as the woodmaster but just slower and in a short action bolt.

you mention you are working on a suppressor. I hope that you have gone through the ATF as having an unregistered suppressor is a big deal to them.
