Hunting & Fishing New Mexico Unit 26 Mule Deer Advise

Guys and Gals,

I just got drawn for a New Mexico Mule Deer hunt in Unit 26 - I'm looking for some feed back / advise for a do it yourself hunter. My Tag is for Nov, Rifle.

Any suggestions on where to start scouting would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone hunt in the south west corner of the state?

Don't bother it's a waste of time, save your fuel. JK
I got drawn in unit 27. I haven't hunted 26 yet or scouted it. To start I would head south of Highway 9 out of Hachita toward Antelope Wells. That's just me. If you can take a few days, spend a lot of time on foot. Down in that country you can miss a lot from the road.
Lot of private land down there too, get the topos for that area and study them.

Thanks, well that is the plan drive and glass. I did notice that there is a lot of private land as well, google earth and topo maps here i come!

Good luck on Unit 13, I have hunted that area a few times, deer, coyotes and Mt Lions.
