For over 25 years, the USGI “Rhino Mount” has served as the standard issue night vision goggle mount for the U.S. Military and her Allies. It was attached to PASGT, MICH/ACH, and every other helmet in the U.S. Arsenal. When the Department of Defense solicited a new night vision helmet mount, Norotos answered with the RHNO II. Featuring solid advancements over its predecessor, the RHNO II brings a new level versatility and performance to warfighters’ night vision abilities.
The RHNO II comes complete with a shroud and mount. The shroud is designed to fit standard one-hole helmets as used by the U.S. Army. It accepts all standard bracket-style mounts. A wide set of legs securely clamp under the lip of the helmet, helping to keep it from rotating. The Mount features three points of adjustment: vertical, fore/aft, and tilt. Unlike the previous USGI mount, the RHNO II features 1″ of vertical adjustment. This is a welcome addition since many users had a hard time adjusting the legacy mount to fit their head, causing them to adjust the way the helmet rode on their heads. Additionally, a full 1.60″ fore/aft adjustment allows the attached night vision goggle to sit at the correct distance from the eye(s). 17º of tilt adjustment finish off the adjustment options. All moving parts are locked into place via levers that control their travel on straight rails. This provides the user with “infinite” adjustments rather than relying “teeth” to set movement at certain points.
The RHNO II utilizes the tried and true “force to overcome” method of stowing the goggle when it is not in use. To stow the goggle, simply grasp it and rotate it up. The opposite is done to bring the goggle back down in front of the user’s face. NVG’s that utilize the auto-off feature are compatible with the RHNO II.
This version of the RHNO II is designed with a Bayonet/Horn interface. It will work with night vision goggles that require this type of mount, such as the AN/PVS-7B(D), AN/PVS-14.

Norotos also designed a version of this mount to accept Dovetail interfaces. It will work with night vision goggles that require this type of mount, such as the AN/PVS-15, AN/PVS-18, AN/PVS-31, and BNVD-G.
