Well I been wanting one for some time and decided to take the plunge and get a Marlin 80 DL (24" Barrel) with Lyman R55M Peep Sights.
Sorry about the quality of the picture...
I'll be adding a sling to this rifle and that's it. Thoughts are that this rifle could be as old as 70 years as it carries the plastic trigger guard and the Receiver is not grooved for scope. My understanding is that in 1941 Marlin went to the Plastic trigger guard and it was also the first year they started grooving the Receivers. In any event, it's Vintage. There is no serial number to nail down a manufacturing date.
It handles well, and the Vintage Lyman Peep Sight (R55M) is nice. this could very well become my favorite rifle real easy.
Can hardly wait for some decent weather to get this 80 DL sighted in.
