When I called to order a new POF upper yesterday, Felix at AVGuns asked me if I wanted to try something different. The upper in the pic above is from the POF website and has the "Hunter Rail". The one I'm having shipped is the Tactical model. I was told the only difference being that it has a full bottom rail and will be in black when it arrives.

Has anyone had a chance to play with one of these yet? I hope they bring one out in 6.5 Grendel soon. I do love my POF stuff, lol.

New POF Hunter rail system

Here's the rail when I first got it. USO SN3 on a 22moa Badger riser with TPS low rings (from needing to be above the MRR rail):

Here are pics of the rail with the same scope mounted in a NF 1.125" 20moa Unimount. This setup gets the scope lower and utilizes the new rail as it was intended. I was going to post better pics and an thread introducing the rail, but just snapped a few since the topic has come up.

Scott hit a homerun for POF when he suggested this design.

These aren't marketing quality pics, but will do for now.

Email or call Jerod Johnson, Sales Mgr at POF-USA for ordering and fitment information.

I would CC both him and Frank... I missed Frank when he was in Denver last week, but only a little bit. I heard he had the Hunter handguards then.

Re: New POF Hunter rail system

If POF decides to offer these as an option I don't think it will be a "bolt on" retrofit, it may end up as an orderable item, but the new rail will contact the bayonet lug on existing gun's gas blocks.

I chopped mine off with a dremel.....

Re: New POF Hunter rail system

The rifle I am talking about retrofitting is over 3 years old, so they can tear it down and rebuild it for all I care. It has the old style piston system, like the plug you guys sent.

It's my old school Poof, the new one is a laser beam.

By a few ounces, not a huge amount.
16" P308's with this rail and a Luepold 4-14, and an A1 stock come in right under 12lbs I think.
