i just got this rifle last week and i want this to make this my new project gun. this would be my first built i need some ideas guys. its a rem 700 sps 22-250
I wish I had your problem! Unfortunately I have the same gun just in 223! With your bolt you can re barrel in any .308 case based round. I would go to a .243 personally.
Manners T2-A with bedding block then wear the barrel out and replace with a 7 twist and shoot 80gr amax bullet 3200 fps. That's what I did with mine (except for the bedding block)
For me, replace the stock with something stiffer and pillar bedded.
Then I'd adjust the trigger to a nice crisp 2lb or so
Then I'd shoot out the 22-250 barrel before I did anything more to it.
Once the barrel was roasted I would ask you to evaluate what you plan to accomplish with the rifle. Light varminting rifle or what? When it goes out for the rebarrel you have the action blue-printed.
Find a HS PSS stock in the for sale section for a couple hundred bucks. Get harris bipod and shoot the piss out of it then rebarrel to whatever you want.
