Nice. Look forward to hearing feedback after you and your brother get some time behind it. I would love to see Rainier offer the lower separately. It'd be great to swap out my current lower with an ambi one...

They came out with this just a few days after I already ordered all my parts for a Mega Maten build. A few days sooner and I would have bought this.

Well, finally got to shoot this, and it's amazing! Super light - I almost thought it was an AR-15 at first. Right about 8 lbs. With a Leupold Mark 6, it was really easy to ring steel at the longest range we had - 270 yards. Also shot sub MOA at 100 yards off a tailgate without a rear bag. Not too shabby. Recoil is really light, though the blast to the side was more than the Les Baer we shot at the same time (of course that's comparing the 16" Rainier with a 24" Les Baer). Overall impression was that this thing feels perfectly balanced and very comfortable. I love the handguard that can be removed with a lever, and it fits very comfortably in my smallish hands. Also, the ambidextrous controls for everything are really slick. On top of that, there are mounting points for quick release sling mounts everywhere! (Handguard, receiver, front of stock, rear of stock - and all of them are on both sides). This one has a Geissele SSA, which is great though I would have preferred an SSA-E. My bro didn't really care, since this is going to be a hunting rig.
Next stop: long range! Can't wait to see how it does. With the Shilen ultramatch barrel, I'm sure it won't disappoint!

How is the relationship between the upper and lower, do you have a tight fit without utilizing the tension screw?? can you see daylight between the upper/lower?

Fit is nice and tight between upper and lower. I didn't take it down and didn't notice a tension screw. Seemed very solid. Only thing that wasn't was the stock. I prefer my Magpul with the friction lock. But it's certainly not a deal breaker.

I also own a RUC 308 and it's an incredible rifle. They really spared no expense on these builds. You can compare this to a $3500 LMT or POF all day long. I am admittedly not a piston gun fan....solution looking for a problem if you ask me. I don't think there is another rifle on the market right now that compares to the RUC 308 for the price. It's a great rifle if you want to save a few bucks and not get into the LaRue and Knights price point.

To answer the fitment question of the upper/lower...they are great. They have the same tension system of the Mega MATEN and a quick twist of the screw and you are golden. It's really a toss up between the MATEN and RA upper/lowers. The difference is really just in the cosmetics. I think the RA styling is a little more aggressive looking and is my preference. They are both ambi setups.

My only complaint about the RUC is the MFT furniture. The stock shoulders well...but it's a little honky. I swapped mine out for a Magpul STR and never looked back.

The new CMC 2 stage flat triggers are pretty slick as well.

Very cool rifles...RA knocked it out of the park. I am getting sub MOA @ 200 with 168's. I have a Vortex Razor HD II 1-6 mounted on it. Intended purpose for the rifle was inside of 600 yards and it's a perfect setup. It got a bit heavy with the optic...as it's built like a tank for 3-gun.

Just waiting to mount my Scope, but just the rifle with empty mag 8lbs, but I am not impressed with the key lock rails. I had to back the hex head screw out so the rails would spread far enough apart, then slide it on lock the key, and tighten the hex head bolt. Mine was not the one they sell I put mine together, and went with 18" barrel, and different stock. Will post more pictures once its done..

I had to adjust tension screw it had what I call the normal AR gap/fitment.... I adjusted the tension screw to still allow the rear takedown pin to be knocked out with my plastic punch and its tight.
