Suppressors New rifle incoming and 'need' a new silencer

I have a Desert Tech SRS coming in soon chambered in 7mm Rem Mag and my current 30 cal rifle silencer (XCaliber Mountaineer D) is not rated for magnum cartridges. The manufacturer recommends their titanium silencer for magnums. Since the SRS is a multi-caliber rifle capable of going up to 338 LM, I am considering getting a silencer that is good for that caliber even though I have no current plans to get a 338.

My question is how much of a sound hit will I take by getting a 338 can vs. a 30 cal can? My only frame of reference is using the 30 cal can on a 260 Remington. It actually seems quieter with the 260 than a 308 even though the muzzle velocity is 200 fps faster than the 308. Any insights would be most appreciated. Any recommendations would also be appreciated but, I would like to keep the cost <$1200 or so.

You’re gonna get a lot of 338 ultra recommendations(I agree).As far as a penalty, there will be none. Not cheap, but super nice. Many shoot them on their 6mm’s and up. The big bore size is no hinderance.

My days of PX and Navy Exchange access ended 36 years ago. If I could get one at those savings it would be a no brainer but at $1800, this exceeds my target by 50%.

As tacticaldillhole said above, try to get a 50% certificate in the PX. They come up pretty often.

Second TBAC 338 Ultra.

I have an SRS, 308 barrel while I save up for the 338. Run both a harvester 338, and a omega can on it. Usually keep the 338 can attached as it is just as quiet (maybe quieter), and seems to heat up more slowly/cool quicker due to the larger diameter and length. But the heat thing could just be in my head, and I always have something else at the range for the omega live on. As others have said, get the 338 of your favorite brand.

The Dead Air Nomad is supposedly very efficient with magnum cartridges for it's size... It's also about half the weight of your current can and two inches shorter.

I appreciate the input on this and wanted to provide an update on the route I have taken. I have purchased an OSS HX-QD 762 to get the 7mm Rem Mag caliber taken care of while also addressing excessive gassing running an IWI Tavor suppressed (brought tears to my eyes quickly). While the OSS may not be the quietest, I am hoping it makes shooting some of my other rifles more enjoyable and enable me to suppress a couple of Galil Ace rifles. If I ever upgrade to a 338, I will just have to purchase another silencer (as if that hasn't happened before).

Well if the time does come for another suppressor do as the other guys have said and find a cert in the for sale section, I got a 100% cert for $800 and got the 338 ultra which is like $1800-$1900 whatever it was.

I considered the cert route but after determining these were direct orders from TBAC and it took 6 -7 months to get a serial number plus the ATF wait, I decided to go a different route as I didn't want to wait a year and a half for a silencer. The 11 month wait from my last purchases were way too long.

The wait times have decreased for some in the last few months my F4 can was approved in 90 days and my F1 in 19 days FWIW.
