I purchased a Millett TRS-1 several months ago and mounted it on my M1A, took it to the range and only got it within 2 inches of zero at a hundred yards. Shortly after that I bought a Remington 700 SPS Varmint in .308 and quickly mounted the TRS-1 on it in an effort to save money (and I had an ACOG that mounted nicely on the M1A). I boresighted the 700 old school (through the bore) at 25 yards. When I took it to the range I could not get on paper at 100 yards. After about 20 rounds I pulled the bolt and attempted to boresight at 100 yards. I noticed the reticle was tracking diagonally down and to the right when I turned the elevation down and up and to the left when I turned the elevation up. I believe that the only reason for any reticle to do this is that the scope was canted during mounting. I used a level on the picatinny rail and a plumb bob to set the vertical crosshair when I initially mounted the scope on the 700. Are there any tricks of the trade that I can try, or should I just send the scope back to Millett? I am about to buy a Vortex PST FFP, but I would like to have the scope fixed so I can remount it on my M1A. I appreciate any help or recommendations that come my way.
