Hey I just discovered this site a day or so ago and got around to making a forum account, site looks great, was hoping for some info on a few things i've been pondering.

I just recently bought a Remington 700 SPS Tactical, around 475$, I know it's cheap I am able to get a discount from where I bought it (New, If your wondering). I was looking into a scope for it, what I want in criteria for it would be possibly 10x40mm and Mil-dot's, Yes I know how to use Mil-dots and it wont be a waste of money. The ranges Ill want to be shooting at ranges from 100-700 yards, I know thats quite a wide range, but 10x40mm would do the job, I believe? Anyways, any feedback on my thought process would be appreciated, thanks, aswell as suggestions for the scope.

Re: New scope?

Fixed 10x should work great. Im a big fan of the fixed 10x. How much is your scope budget?

On the low end as far as cost goes is the bushnell elite 3200 for approx 250 dollars.

On the high end is the Schmidt and Bender around 1900 dollars.

Re: New scope?

I think your criteria are very reasonable. A 10x will definitely cover that range, and will do a great job at it. Most people on here will agree that the SWFA SS mil/mil line of scopes is fantastic for the money, and they are probably among the best fixed power scopes in a reasonable price range. Congrats on the new rifle, and have fun!

Re: New scope?

SWFA 10X matching mil...3-10X40 matching mil Weaver...and i like also Burris Fullfield II all can be had for around $300 or less

Oooo one more Bushnell fix 10X matching mill

Re: New scope?

I like the elites better than the swfa anyway. I have owned each one at one point. I have a elite 5-15x elite tactical with Leopold rings and bubble level that I'm wanting to sell. PM me if your interested.

Re: New scope?

If the Bushnell had some type of parallax adjustment, I'd be all over it. I don't like fixed parallax on tactical/long range scopes, since only about half of my range time is at exactly 100 yds. The rear focus on the SS's are worth the extra $50 to me.

The Bushnell's have parallax adjustment on the objective and also have "focus" or diopter adjustment on the eyepiece. I haven't seen in person a variable power scope that didn't have parallax adjustment. Just fixed.

Sorry, I was referring to Bushnell's fixed 10x, not the 5-15x.
