I bought my first 300 win mag back in 2001 after my coworker, who had an incredible shooting range built at his home, convinced me it was the new caliber that I needed to have. I had been shopping around and had looked at several remington model 700s, which i had meant to buy, when i came across this absolutely gorgeous ruger mkII m77. I ended up buying the ruger basically because it was a beautiful looking setup with the light colored wooden stock and the beautiful stainless action and barrel. I had the trigger rebuilt as most all of you know simply because its a ruger trigger. The action was removed and glass bedded for accuracy and i had a very nice looking muzzle break put on to make the rifle an absolute blast to shoot. After a couple years i had been shooting my bushmaster varminter and fell in love with the fact that i always hit what i pointed at with this style (ar15) of setup. I decided i wanted the same pistol grip, tactical style setup for my beloved 300, everything just fell into place as far as cheek weld and comfort for me with this style of rifle. Well, after many years of searching and more disappointing phone calls than you can imagine i had given up on finding a company that makes or would even try to make a tactical stock for my ruger. Not long ago, however, i received a call from a fellow ruger fanatic who had run into the same issue i did. Only this man, brian billings, had a plan. Brian had given up finding his particular style of stock and decided to design and build it himself. He had come across an email i had sent him some time back and asked if i would be interested in what he had to offer. I was more than interested, i needed one! Well, in a matter of weeks i had my custom, fully adjustable and painted to order mark II tactical stock in the mail. Brian was excellent to deal with and has been readily available if ever i need him. His product fits exactly as it should and looks great. I was told i could get whatever color i wanted also to include cammo, mine is black. The length of pull is adjustable from 11 1/4" - 14 1/4", tons of room. The cheek rest is not only adjustable up and down 1 3/4" but also fore and aft as much as 2 1/2" to allow for perfect weld and repeatability of your shot! I apologize to brian and all of you for the poor quality of pictures, but the lighting was bad and its all coming from my phone. Ill try to get better pics and more info as im able to find the perfect load. As far as shooting box ammo, this setup continues to shoot under 1 moa at a hundred with Remington core lokt 180 gr. Im working on some 210 and 208 loads now and will keep you updated. Thanks brian!! I would also like to add that the stock is machined aluminum for strength and weight. The stock is very solid and gives great points of contact for mounting as a complete free floating setup for superb accuracy.

Re: NEW TACTICAL STOCK FOR RUGER M77

Mark II Tactical has some great looking stocks they are working on for the Ruger Scout as well which make an excellent brush gun for backpacking or horsebacking in the mountains!

So is Brain building stocks like this for sale?

I have M77 MKII Varmint in 223 that I want Adjustable LOP and an Adjustable Cheek Rest for, it would be nice to just replace the stock rather than attach after market stuff to the original stock. If I had my druthers I suppose I would put a hand stop under the front of the stock and a tail support on the back.

And I stumbled on a 7 year old post that I thought would be the a answer to a beloved good shooting ruger MK2 that I’ve decided has offered enough years of service and harvested enough game to warrant a serious upgrade . But alas I’ll just have to continue to hunt with my old style stick, with plain Jane wood but with a great trigger and lots of memories

I went with a Hogue Overmolded stock for my MK II in 35 Whelen. Much better than the old woodie that came with it, before we rebuilt it.

History, it was a beater .30-06, that was rebuilt, trued, rebarreled and blued in .35 Whelen. Nice rifle, shoots just like one would expect for a custom.
The thread is over a decade old.
