I happened upon a Remington 700 SPS ,308 26" barrel with a Burris XTR 312 scope. I could really use some advise/opinions on this rig. Oh, it also came with a Bell & Carlson A5 Tactical Medalist stock. The B&C is not mounted and the rifle is new in the box, never fired. Any advise on setting this up for a decent rig would be appreciated. I have shot many 118 LR's in Afghan through a 110 but not familiar with civilian rifles. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the hide!

The B&C A5 is a nice stock, a bit on the heavy side, but very rigid. You will need to have someone skim bed your action into the stock but once thats done you should be good to go. You could just bolt your action into the stock and call it a day buy belive me when I say that stock is begging to be skim bedded.

The SPS is a very decent starter, it will serve you well. Burn out the barrel then you will have a very good base to do a custom build on.

The Burris XTR is not a bad scope either, Ive had very good luck with Burris as a mid range optic, sounds like you are pretty much set.

After a while look into reloading as thats the only way you will squeez every bit of accuracty out of your rifle, and it makes shooting match grade ammo cheaper.

Good luck and post pics of your rig when its done.
