New (to me) Remington 40X

Over the weekend I won a Remington 40X in 22lr at an estate auction. It was a bit of a risk because there were only two pictures and a pretty sparse description. Price was pretty good.

If it's engraved "U.S." it's a surplused Army rifle (vice "USMC").

Yours looks like mine from around 2010 -- medium taper barrel and the Remington 700 back-swept bolt handle (as opposed to the straight 721-722 handle).

It should shoot really straight and tight with almost any ammo. I paid the CMP $400 for mine. Yanked it out of the wood stock and had Charlie at Mile High Gunsmithing in Albuquerque bed it into an H-S Varmint stock.

It has a Murphy Precision 20-MOA rail and an SWFA side-focus 10X Super Sniper for scoped work and Centras for iron sight shooting.
