I recently purchased a MPA chassis for my 308 and it has a NV bridge so the way I see it, I might as well put something on it. I have zero experience with NV or FLIR outside of briefly checking out a buddy’s gear here and there.
I am far from being a wealthy man, so I will be on a budget, however I am not a fan of buying inadequate gear. I do have access to law enforcement/military available products, but just not the budget for high speed gear. My goals would be reasonable target identification to 500 yds or so. My initial budget would be $1000-$2500. I may learn that my budget would be too restrictive for this capability and I may just have to save for a while. My uses would be hunting predators, hogs, and defending my homies if the country continues to fall apart.
Could you guys point me towards safe/smart investments or some solid reading material? I will begin reading threads in this forum, but a decent amount of the threads are over my head at the moment.
