New to the fourm. Hello

Good afternoon everyone. I'm new to the fourm and I'm currently fulfilling a dream of mine to own a LR rifle. In my quest to build the rifle I've decided on either a Krieger or Bartlein barrel. As most everyone knows finding one of these barrels has been a pain in my rear. The barrel I'm looking for is the either Krieger #10, or the Bartlein #7. One of the companies I found that actually had barrels in stock has some Bartlien #9's.

What I'm looking for is how much of a difference is there going to be between the Bartlein #7 which I want, and the Bartein #9 which he has in stock. To give you an idea of what I'm going to be doing with the rifle, my plans are shooting from 100 to 1000 yards. AI 1.5 chassis with a Surgeon 591/R action ion 308cal.

Anyone help with barrel would be greatly appreciated.

The heavy shank on the #9 is a little longer, but it tapers to a little smaller diameter at the muzzle than the #7.

The #9 weighs 8oz more than a #7, when both are finished at 26". The shorter you go, the more the #9 will weigh compared to an equal length #7.

What does all this mean? Not much. Both will be more than sufficient to do what you are looking to do.

Edit to add: Both the #7 and #9 are some seriously chunky barrels. The reason you've probably found them in stock, is because most people don't want such a fat barrel - because they're heavy! If that's what you like though, have at it.

Yea this isn't something I'm going to be carrying hunting or anything like that. It'll be a flat out distance rifle.

Thanks, just emailed them on the 1-10 with the 5R. That's the barrel I've been looking for.
