New Trainer Rifle

I picked up this Russian Trainer today and it is a shooter!! I am not real crazy about the skull pattern but the carbon fiber pattern looks cool on the barrel. I am going to polish the bolt to get rid of what little surface rust is on it and put a diffrent optic on. The reciever is dovetail not sure if it is 3/8 or 11mm, one of you all may chime in on that one. I am thinking a DIP 25 MOA rail should work with the proper dovetail and a little altering at the feed opening.

That looks like an awesome rifle, however your scope looks like it's way too far back. I would highly suggest this mount:

That ^^^ is for 30mm scopes but they sell the same mount for 1" tubes too. BKL makes a very good product that will mount to your 3/8" to 11mm dovetail.

The problem with buying a D.I.P. rail like you suggested is that the front of your receiver appears to be larger in diameter to the rear, and it also appears to lack a dovetail. Therefore, you would need to do some custom work to even make it fit, if I am correct and my eyes do not deceive me. And even then it would probably look way out of place... in my opinion.

3/8 and 11 millimeters are pretty close. It seems like you can use a 3/8 mount on a 11mm grove, but an 11mm mount on a 3/8 groove might need some alteration.

I dropped it off at the smiths today. I am going to have him tap it foe a one piece rail. I should get it back Monday.
