Rifle Scopes NEW! USO's CQB reticle

OK gent's here it is!!!!

This reticle is fitted to the USO SN4 1.5 - 6x rifle scope and was designed with CQB or 3 gun in mind. It was designed specifically under the guidance of the C2 Shooting center in VA Beach, VA for their "C2 Shooting Series" of rifles and equipment. The owner of C2, Kent Mote, posts here as "Rock1911"

It is milradian based with a circle that subtends 40 Mils. That means that roughly it's the size of a man's chest at 12.5 yards or the size of his head at 6 yards. The center of the cross hair is a floating cross that is 1 mil in all directions with a mil of "free" space. Pictures are worth a 1000 words, so w/o further adieu

Look good, I'm already a fan of the JNG-MIL reticle available on that scope. I ordered my 1.8-10 with it even though it isn't quite as good as the 1.5-6 version.

Has John or anyone at USO ever spoke about making a true 1X optic? While I'm ignorant of the technical limitations, but always though a true 1x6 or so would be amazing.

That reticle is specific to the 1.5 - 6X (all reticles are set up for their max power so the same reticle in a 10X is different for the 17X etc.)

I do have a design that is similar for the 1 - 4X and the 1.8 - 10X (that one has ANOTHER special feature

) there just has to be enough interest to foot the $1K price tag of getting the reticle designed, trademarked and the pattern set up.

051F - The reticle was lit specifically that way to draw your eye to the center and to have "anchors" in low light/NV applications.

Raf - Not yet, I talked w/ Kent tonight and he is road tripping but said I could post about it. I'm trying to get clear to go down there.

ALL - It is the standard "option" price ($86.00 I think) for the 1.5 -6X scope and yes you can get it w/ an EREK.

The illumination is what it is, in bright conditions there are doggone few illuminations that will not get washed out. The green is considerably "sharper" and more distinct for CQB / 3 Gun, IMHO.

A true 1 - 6X would be a tough build. Bushnell or Burris has a 6X factor scope, while they may have improved them some since I saw it at SHOT 08, the FOV gets small and the scopes are dark because of the thickness of the refraction lens. That being said you never know

That is awesome. I had talked with John a while ago about a reticle like that for the 1x4 scopes. Glad someone finally came out with one for the USO scopes.

You have my interest in something for the 1.8-10. I would even be willing to put my build on a temporary hold if something could be accomplished within the next 6 months. Maybe a new thread for guys interested is in order.

If you guys are interested in a 1.8 - 10X or 1 - 4X versions I have the plans but it would probably take more than one or two to get the reticle built. The reticles take 45 days from the day the lazer guys get it to build the first prototypes. Then there is the build time for the scopes themselves. Oh did I mention getting the idea onto glass costs $1,000.00 per design?

YEP! The 14 is a PITA because you have to back way up on the gun but the PVS 22 works good with this scope.

I love the EREK on my 3.2-17 but went with the slimline knobs on my 1.5-6 figuring I don't really want to take the time to dial on my AR-15.
Holdovers are pretty easy with these reticles anyway. The slimlines are nice and short so they block less of your peripheral vision.

Guys,
As Doc stated I am on a road trip to China Lake, California teaching. I will return on the 26th. We shall have 6 of the scopes in stock at that time. Depending on the verdict we will order many more. Pricing will be as reasonalble as we can make it. We were looking to create a great peice of kit, not make alot of money. I am banking my rep on it. Doc was a great help and US Optics is a tough peice of kit. So I think it is a win - win situation. Something we all needed in the arena. EREK is available and demo's will be available when I return. Very nice unit! I'v always liked green over the red for lit reticals. (Remember the Springfield scope's, great retical & design, just a piss poor scope.) What is the aprox. price of the scope as shown? And how long will it take to get one specd to my liking?

I have two of the SN4 1.5-6 with a JNG MOA reticle which provides CQB on the 1.5 magnification and MOA delineations on the higher magnifications. I have the EREK elevation knob. It makes it easier when I go to 90 deg. side-prone; I can dial down on the elevation knob then use the MOA delineations for hold over. I've had this optic for approx. a year and a half and have used it in multi-gun competitions. So far I haven'tseen any other optics that offer the options that this scope does.

I did some range work with Kent today and we got some more "field" pictures just to see how the reticle stacks up against the original concept.

It exceeded expectations.

The simplicity of the reticle makes it a no brainer to accurately engage targets w/o even getting into doing the math of ranging. Essentially with a 25 meter BZO on an M-16 if the bad guy fits in one half section of the stadia lined cross hair (5 mils or so), center and send it. No holds, no ranging, no guessing. Down and dirty, fast and simple with one zero out to 300 and a bit. It gets even better in a 308 or other high performance AR based cartridge.


25 yards @ 6X Nice and easy

25 yards at 1.5X Great field of view nice target picture

50 Yards @ 6X At 6"-2" I fill the circle

50 Yards @ 1.5X Lots of field of view nice target picture

100 Yards @ 6X I fill the stadia section of the cross hair

200 yards @ 6X I fit in 1/2 of the stadia

300 yards @ 6X My chest fits inside the area of the floating cross hair
