As some may have seen, I want to give one of these scopes a try, I've heard from several people that the value is a good one. FFP, zero stop, mil/mil, etc etc for under $2k.

Anyways, I pm'd some questions to Sam@Vortex and he was nice enough to answer all of them for me. Quickly I might add seeing that he's in Vegas for SHOT already and still checking in here. Anyways, he also said they just uploaded a new brochure today to the website (I assume for SHOT) and I should check it out. Figured that some here would be interested.

Jason,

I haven't handled one of these scopes, but I have heard nothing but rave reviews from those that have. basically, I was told that if you dig nightforce, you will love the razor. I would like to try one of these out one day.

They have been in business since 1986, and it's my understanding that the scope was actually put to real world testing much earlier than the release date. Lowlight's review, the ironclad warranty, the features, and the accessibility of the Vortex folks here on the forum swayed me pretty heavily.

I really like mine.

If you watch the Youtube Video and are familiar with a few of the manufactures out there you will see that not only are there some truly innovative items, you will see the quality of the product.

It's a lot cheaper than the Premier was and Vortex has at least made other scopes before this one, so that argument isn't one that I'd make.

Vortex is a hell of a company, family owned here in the US, listening to shooters, great customer service, etc etc.

Got a question on them, PM Sam@Vortex here, he's the head of R&D and Engineering for them. Even with SHOT going on I'll bet you get an answer in less than 24 hours. Try that with Leupold, S&B, Premier or any other company in the business. Get back to us with the results.

The fact that it offers all the same features as the above mentioned scopes plus the industries best warranty. The HD glass is very brilliant and clear, the clicks were firm and positive and I liked the zero stops even though LL didnt care for them in his review, I like that you can dial in at .05 of a mil.

I too was surprised this was a negative. I can see his point and for a quick and easy 1 shot zero the clicks are nice, but for us normal range geeks it's nice to be able to fine tune a little more and dial .05 mil (or even less).

I was of the mindset........new company.......I spend $2k on a scope and 2 years nobody is around to service it or everyone is laughing that I have one because the shine has worn off. BUt I am kinda turning the corner......the Razor has ALL of the feature I would select in what seems to be a heavy duty package.........along with great customer service. I have pretty much made up my mind that if I am going to spend $2 g's on something its going to be the Razor. Too much not to like.

Vortex has been around since '86, just growing slowly and doing it right. In a few weeks I hope to let you shoot my Razor so you can form your own opinion.
