Hi Folks -
I have used this forum to check my sanity from time to time. The experience here rises to the top. I thought I'd join and give back some, if that is possible.
I'm a third generation "brat", and the fourth is carrying on. The eldest of the younger generation did two tours "in the sandbox", as have two others. The second eldest did not join, which technically broke the "every member of my family is a soldier, or married to one" string. I have held a 19D, 11B, and 11C MOS, w/ the E qualifier (Mountain). The Army has been good to me.
I just bought an annual membership to Range 82 http://www.range82.com/ in Midland, VA on New Years Day. It's a nice facility w/ 30 yards covered, a 100 yard line, and plans (and space) for a 200 yard line, and maybe more. They don't have too many restrictions, as long as you coordinate. Guest can shoot for a nominal fee.
I also just bought and dressed a POF P308. I also have a Rock River National Match, a LWRC M6A2, and several tools to fill out tactical contingencies. I have shot in CMP matches around eastern VA. Being a scout and a grunt, I believe weapons and their accoutrements should not hamper mobility. So my next add will be a ruck. I am thinking an Eberlestock. I'm just starting on that, so I don't even have a budget yet.
Last, but not least, I thank the Almighty that I have the freedom to do this. The selection, availability, and wisdom available at my fingertips is truly amazing! Thank You all for your generousity.
