Suppressors newby suppressor question

First off I have never shot a rifle suppressed or even been around one that was. 20 years in the army plus 40 yrs of shooting with friends and I have never seen one. That's how green I am to this question.

I shoot out to 600 yds on private land near some houses. I shoot at least 10 days a month there and am starting to wear out my welcome with the noise. The suppressor should help in being a good neighbor, save some of my hearing, plus I've always wanted one. The two main rifles I plan to suppress are a Mark Chanlynn built 24 inch 7mm-08 bolt action and a M1A scout. I shoot many hunting rifles throughout the year as well but do not want to thread the barrels on them.

My biggest concern is keeping the accuracy of my 7mm-08, although handling of the M1A is a concern. The suppressor I am looking at getting is a TBAC 30PS. I am willing to trade some noise for a shorter, lighter suppressor that will be easier to use. My concern is the two applications I want are quite a bit different. The 7mm-08 has to retain accuracy and is usually fired at a slow rate of fire. The M1A isn't that accurate to begin with and is more of a high volume fun gun that is not used past 300 yards. Will the 30PS work on the bolt rifle as well as the semi auto, or do I really need two cans designed for that particular use? Is there a suppressor that would fill the dual role better than what I'm looking at? I'd like to get this right the first time.

The TBAC 30PS will retain the accuracy if not improve it. As far as sustained fire from your M1A you will just want to watch the volume of fire. I think Zak says not to exceed 800 degrees on the titanium cans. But there are plenty of people running TBAC cans on AR10 style rifles.

Are you on Kodiak Island? I know of a dealer in Anchorage that sells TBAC cans and am getting ready to order a 30CB7 next week.

Only problem I see is you will want to have all your rifles threaded after shooting suppressed.

the yhm qd line would be easy to switch back and forth and are full auto rated. the do not have the reputation for accuracy that thunder beast does but my ar still shoots good through it with the right load. i worked up a load with some pull down wc844 that shot about 1 moa put the suppressor on and 4 moa. i have another load with 8208 shoots the same suppressed or not without even a poi shift. in my experience suppressors are a whole different animal. a wonderful magical animal that are well worth the wait and trouble to get.

As long as you aren't doing mag dumps it should be OK temperature-wise on the M1A. You will have to let it cool eventually, but that is true for most rifles and/or cans. You want to keep the 30PS under about 700-800 degrees.

The main issue on the M1A will be presenting a muzzle thread/shoulder setup that is appropriate for the can. I would recommend getting an adapter installed that provides a 5/8-24 setup

As long as you aren't doing mag dumps it should be OK temperature-wise on the M1A. You will have to let it cool eventually, but that is true for most rifles and/or cans. You want to keep the 30PS under about 700-800 degrees.

The main issue on the M1A will be presenting a muzzle thread/shoulder setup that is appropriate for the can. I would recommend getting an adapter installed that provides a 5/8-24 setup

The closest I come to mag dumps are 5 rounds controlled rapid fire. I can't afford to burn through too much ammo. As far as the adapter, I've looked at ones from SEI and DeltaP that retain the front sight. Do you have a preference between those two? I'll also add an adjustable gas plug.

I no longer live on Kodiak, but I've used this name on the internet for too long to go changing now.

I have thought about the other rifles. I will probably buy more to suppress than thread the ones I have.

I do want to get a 22lr suppressor as well. I shoot my 77/22 as much as anything. I have a .221 fireball with a 22in barrel. Is there a suppressor that could do both the fireball and the 22lr? I doubt I ever have another .223, so the fireball would be the biggest round the suppressor would need to work on.

I've heard good things about the Delta-P version, but haven't tried it myself. I also couldn't tell how large its "shoulder" was. In either case, it is critical that it be checked out before firing to ensure everything is straight.
