We got "kicked off" for some lame ass silhouette setup for tomorrow. Could have sworn setups were done early morning before shooting starts... whatever.

Hello! I would like to come shoot with you guys. Unfortunalty i have never shot in an organized shoot. Could someone give me an idea of what to expect. What type rifle you guys use? What type distances are shot? I am interested but clueless. If you guys prefer a NEWBIE not show up it won't hurt my feelings. Thanks For any info.

The more the better. People will help you.

Range from 100m to 500m (have your DOPE)or know your gear.
Cold Bore (random)
KYL
Position
Mover (I hope)
Crazy steel (8-10 shots various distances where time and hits matter)

The best way to learn is to show up.

HAVE FUN.....this is not a two way range.....

I'm using a Steyr SSG 69 PII .308 Win with a Leupold Mk 4 3.5x10x40mm. I'm shooing handloaded 168 gr Hornady A-Max bullet. You can use a hunting rifle with a scope or semi-auto rifle with an optic. I think the most important thing is to have a good zero and good d.o.p.e.

The mover will be there. The plan is to have 100 yard and 550 yard mover stages.
If the weather is decent we might have more paper and less steel stages due to having more shooters so we can move things along a little faster. We will see.

Thanks Guys for all the info it looks like a great time! will there be an oppertunity to check zero down there? My shooting conditions here are much different than they are there. and about what time do you think things will be wrapped up? just wondering if i would have time to drive back after or if i need to get a room for that night also. Thanks Eric

You won't have time to check zero unless you can get with a club member and go to range 3,5, or 6 prior to the start of the match.
We try to finish up by noon but we have been running until about 1:00 for the last couple matchs. I'm hoping with having more paper stages we can still have 9 or 10 stages and be done by noon.

zero shouldnt be much diff.

humidity 10
shooting angle bout 15 downward
wind is usually bout 5 from 8oclock
have dope from 100-500 meters

I will be coming from Summit county in Utah, it is about a 5.5hour drive. The girlfriend has been bugging me to make a trip to Vegas so this might be a good oportunity!

I spoke with the club president about this and he said they had no right have kicking you guys off the range. Next time let the gate gastapo know and they will straighten these arseholes out.

Just show up Kurts match is fun and chances are you are going to learn something. The guys at the match are pretty good bunch everyone trying to win but are willing to help a newb out. I was in your shoes just two months ago. I am going to try to make it this Sat.

It goes about 1.8 MPH from left to right and about 2.5 from right to left (down hill). We usually put the GPS on it to check the speed.

Yes interesting it will be!! It will be nice to get away from these sub zero temps for a couple days. I was just getting things loaded up and found out how terribly unprepared I am, completly out of my favorite primer and just ran short on bullets so I will be making a run to the store in the morning, keeping my fingers crossed that they have a decent supply.
