Next Purchase for Rem 700

So I have a few wife approved funds to spend on my Rem 700 AAC-SD. And I already spent the unapproved funds before you say that

. I already have a bipod and reloading gear.

I'm looking to spend around $150-$200ish. My thoughts on options:

New trigger, probably a Rifle Basix. I currently have the stock trigger
Muzzle Brake - looking at RAD
Savage Mark II FV as a trainer
A new stock - Bell and Carlson Medalist M40 - a little over budget but I can swing it

Opinions on my next purchase? Am I missing something easy?

Personally if I still had the factory stock I would pick up the BC. Just my .02 cents

A decent scope and lots of range time. Take a hard look at the SWFA line, they are great scopes. You might also want to consider signing up for the Sniper's Hide online training. It's not that expensive and its packed full of knowledge for both the beginner and advanced shooters.

Good idea, didn't think about the training being about that price.

On another note, I see you're not too far from me. I'm still not thrilled with the local range selection. I've been shooting at Thunder Gun Range and occasionally Conroe Gun Emporium. Am I missing a good local range?

American Shooting Center in Katy is pretty good, but not that local for you. They have a 600yd range with a few steel plates. I would call first to see if they're open before making the drive to Katy, sometimes they will close the longer ranges if they are hosting a large skeet shoot. I found that out the hard way.

I put a B&C on mine and it was a huge improvement. I bedded it. Also dropped in a Timney--the xmark is junk--Timney was a big jump.

Unless you are set on the B&C M40 stock, keep an eye out for a stock here in the PX. I picked up a HS Precision 700p take off stock for less than 200 bones for my SPS Tactical.

Get the stock, it will make shooting it a lot more comfortable.

Not married to the B&C. Just looking for something in that price range. I've checked out the HS 700P and would be happy with anything similar to that. I would love the Whiskey 3 chassis, but I don't want to spend that much. LR Shooting is a weekend hobby for me. I'm about to have a kid, and am finding it harder to justify large expenses on fun stuff.

Get the stock.
The factory hogue stocks will usually bring about $50 and the over budget problem becomes mute.

I like the B&C idea. I really liked the one I put on my Weatherby 270.

The stock factory trigger isn't too bad and is already adjustable but the Hogue stock needs replacing or bedding. I went with a used AICS but that is gonna be a bit out of your budget. Go with the B&C...you won't be sorry.

I would adjust your factory trigger down some and get the online training. Ive improved quite well with just the first 7 or 8 videos so far. Then get a stock next.

Definitely upgrade the stock. Probably the most improvement for you dollar.

I’ll definitely upgrade the stock. This is the best bang for your approval since you can “swing it”.

I got a Timney before I got a stock, my factory trigger would not adjust below 5lbs, the rifle was capable of MOA or slightly better at the time and I saw a trigger doing more for my consistency than a stock, however I was not shooting from a bipod, if your trigs as bad as mine was I'd start there. If your trigger is acceptable, get the stock, I have a B&C and I think they're excellent stocks, very rigid, and a much better feel. Between the two I've become much more consistent.

Not a big fan of factory (dumpster) sticks, but for the $ your looking to spend I would spent it on a Schillen trigger and a JP break. u could do those two for right at $200

I put a rifle basix on mine and it is great. Definitely upgrade the stock as soon as you can.

I can do a $40 muzzle brake. I do almost all of my pistol shooting at SGA. My favorite indoor range.

I'd invest $150. in a Timney 510 or 512 trigger. Check them out at MidWAY USA. That's where I bought my 510.

I have a b&c adjustable and I love it. Look around I got mine off of here and it was super cheap.
