In the past I was using Hand calls with a fair outcome. The beginning of this year I picked up a FoxPro Fusion E caller and so far I like it. With the fusion you can run two different sounds at the same time at different volumes. I'm still practicing and learning with the caller. I know for sure the fox around me love it, this season I took at least 5. I don't think there are a whole lot of people around me that shoot them, especially in the dark.

I been looking at the fusion and might change over to different foxpro unit than I am using now at night .
. I use a few different hand calls with internal fixed reed . This winter I needed to add more to the mix, I did pick-up a pretty sweet open reed caller and been working on some estrus chirps that seems to do really well and called in three so far .

1st of the year always seems to be a little weird with the way the dogs come in to certain sounds with them breeding and Den'ing up for pups .
FOX , I always read guys culling out the Fox at night . but here where I am at in my location there are NO Fox . Think they were taken over by more dominant Coyote population over the years, as they are just filthy thick and pretty territorial.here . They just can't compete with the coyote . I only seen one Fox here in my life over by Mt.Hood area in OR. but that is it .

+1 for the Fusion. Would've gone with the Shockwave except was able to buy an external speaker, foxjack decoy and more sounds with the money I saved and it works every bit as good if not better in certain situations with the ability to direct sound in 3 directions. I've had it for 3 years without a single issue and it gets used hard. (I've had several owls pick it up and drop it from 10 feet or so) FoxBang, FoxPitch and the ability to mix sounds is invaluable. That being said I never go out without my Burnham Bros Mini Blaster. I love throwing in some hand calls along with the FoxPro to add to the scenario. Also, for those times I that place the call in a location that the remote won't communicate or the batteries fade mid stand and it's too good of a spot to ruin by walking out to the call. Glad to see the Night Kills thread again as well. 90% of my hunting is under the cover of darkness. Nothing like it!

Took this male an hour ago using Pup Distress 3. One of the most productive sounds for me year round.

Smoked these 2 a couple nights ago. Hoping to get out again this evening and enjoy this t-shirt weather.

Nice. What bullet you running out of AR? I duplicated federal 69 gr sierra match king load and it shoots lights out in my rock river (8 twist). Also shoot a 50 gr v-max out of that same fast twist barrel with a compressed load of varget that is 1/2 moa and deadly. I use AR mainly at night and run bolt 22-250 with 55 gr v-max during the day.

What brass catcher is that on your gun Sledge1? Been wanting to buy one because I loose all my damn prepped and reloaded brass when night hunting. There is a million out there and have looked at all of them! If that one works for you and you like it, let me know what brand it is. I like to cut to the chase and use stuff that others have real world input on if it works. Thanks.

Lately I've been trying the 58 VMAX for a little more speed in my night gun. I shoot the 65's in my 'day' gun ( both are 6 WOA). The 58's don't perform the same as the 65's at 3450fps. I haven't clocked the 58's but I'm either going to slow them down or just load the 65's.
The brass catcher is just the Caldwell that attaches to the pic rail. Works good and cheap. I hate losing my brass too.

How do you like the WOA? Have always been interested in that round. Love 6mm for Varmint hunting. My grandfather was a gunsmith and built my dad a 244 Remington varminter (before the 6mm rem was the 6mm rem...you probably already knew that) that had a 12 twist barrel on a 1942 Mauser action. It's still running and I have a load that will liquify the insides of a coyote with the 65 gr vmax...its humming and is a hammer. The gun has a beautiful stock that was handmade by grandfather. I take it out every now in again in fair weather. Lots of memories with that gun. Man, the sound when that 6mm bullet slaps a dog in the chest is unreal! Makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck!

Crowe, I love the caliber for calling. I have 3 now. Very handy in an AR. The 65's at the speed I'm shooting them kill em like lightening and they look like they died of natural causes. No exits.

Killswitch, good looking dogs/ setup. What you're doing is working well, those are good numbers. My hunting partner quit for the season the first of this month with 62. He's a friggin machine. I'm at half that but still hunting. This warm weather is making me soft though.

Keep after em guys.
