I have a Nightforce base I'm trying to put on my Remington 700 long action, but it came with 8-40 weaver-style torx screws and the rifle is obviously tapped for 6-48. I have some 6-48 screws, however the heads 'look' like they may be too small to use in place of the 8-40's. The Nightforce 8-40's are T-15 while my 6-48 are probably T-10's. I'm sure the 6-48's will work, but I just wanted to see if anyone could confirm. Also, 25-30 lbs of torque?

You have the wrong base, NF makes two versions of the long action base, one for 6-48 screws and one for 8-40. I would try to return the scope base for the correct model instead of trying to cobble something together, that's just asking for a failure down the road. The alternative is to have a gunsmith open the holes up to 8-40, the benefit to that would be that your scope base holes would then be aligned.

Part # A112 is NF's Rem 700 LA 1 pc base with 20 MOA cant and 6-48 screws. A113 is the 40 MOA version.
