Nightforce hunting reticle

I’ve been searching on here and other forums and finding limited feedback on this subject.

Mounting a NX8 4-32 FFP on a new 300prc build. This will be used at the range often as I like to shoot but primary use is for hunting.

I’m really hung up on a reticle. Initially was going to pull the trigger on Mil-C but now leaning Mil-XT.

Any experience on big game out there? Not opposed to MOAR also. Have lots of Mil dot experience but also have hunted with a VX3 w/ MOA successfully.

What kind of hunting? I prefer the Mil-R for hunting over most reticles on the market, including the Mil-C/Mil-XT. Very useful to have something a little thicker for low power in the woods or looking into heavy brush cover. While that makes me want to tell you go MOAR, MOA is dumb.

As far as range use: if you don't mind clutter and like to use holds, get the Mil-XT because the tree can be useful. I don't like clutter and I always dial elevation, so I went with the Mil-C in my latest NF. Same logic applies to wide open plains/valley/mountain hunting.

Western states, backcountry, ambush style hunting.

Last 3 animals taken at 550, 480, and 920 all dialing elevation and holding wind.

Mil-C seems to fit best. I walk around at 10x as that matches my binos so even with FFP I’m assuming should have a solid reticle.

I have the NX8 C624 (MOAR F1 reticle) . I switched to this scope for that floating center cross in the reticle. The $1500+ difference between the ATCAR and NX8 was spent on another barrel, magazines, powder, bullets and dies.

Knowing my velocity, I used a Leica 2700B, a ballistics program on my phone and a Kestrel with AB to see how close everything was cooking the numbers. I shot steel from 360yd out to 700yds. I dialed the elevation and held off for wind. I'm a happy customer using the MOAR reticle.

With that said, if you want to BOCO the extra $$ on an ATACR I would still go with the MOAR F1, the MIL-R would be my 2nd only because that center cross is not floating if it were that would move it up the list for me. The BEAST was not on my list
