Wouldn’t be my first choice either but a buddy of mine uses his NXS 3.5-15 with the MOAR reticle and it’s not limiting him hitting clays at 300m with the CZ 455.
He can also clean the KYL at 50yards and the smallest steel I believe is 1/4in
Personally for 22lr I like the Athlon APRS3.
It’s got a center dot. .2 mils grads and a very clean tree.
Can also be in moa
It’s an excellent field reticle. A finer dot or cross hair reticle is probably what you will want Leupold fine duplex for example.
There is a fine MOAR. these moar reticles get compressed at low power.
I use this reticle on my F-Class rifle at 1000 yards and it is perfect. For load development i shoot at 100 yards and it again is perfect. Mine is second focal plane. I have a ffp 5-25 i use on my 223 but i always run it at 25x. That way i can see the reticle. At lower power the reticle becomes so large compared to the target it is hard to shoot accurately
