Rifle Scopes Nightforce "new" reticle for LPVO? FC-DMx

I think I dig it. Planning to upgrade my short to mid range hunting scope this year. This might make the ATACR 1-8 a good choice.

Heresy, I know, but I’d like to see this in a second focal plane 1-8x NX8.

I don’t use the ranging capability and would like an almost holographic view with a larger reticle at 1x. I have an older Millett Designated Marksman scope that I use like a holo sight and love it.

Problem tho is the reticle is worthless then between 1 and 8x... with 24mm objective i’ll Pass on that. At least with the one I had the nx8 was best at about 6-6.5x for taking longer shots in terms of eyebox and view but the reticle wasn’t very good at that mag setting.

When I saw this my first thought was dang--good improvement. I want that in my ATACR.

But on second thought when you remove all that "mass" from the donut is the 1x red dot performance going to suffer? (aka be less bright?)

It'll be interesting to see.

FC-DM for reference

I thought the same thing. I'm willing to give up a small amount of brightness for a better all-around package. But it still needs to be daylight bright to pass

It does work well. I've got a S&B dual. Really like it, but damn its big. My hope is that the industry continues to expand on smaller, lighter weight dual options.

I've said it for years, rather than always trying to push the magnification top end limits and get dicey results for the initial years, I would much rather see an attempt to make an optic that doesn't suck in the NX8 footprint or smaller. A less than 1lb 1-6x that doesn't suck...or how about a badass 3/4lb 1-4x full on variable.

They did a great job on improving over the NX8 reticle here. I hated the crowded donut on the NX8 and was one of the reasons I sold mine. This reticle looks good and should be a perfect fit for the optics intent.

I'm so very close to pulling the trigger on one. Might even trade in my NX8 1-8 for it, gotta see how much EuroOptic would give me for it. I just wanna see what that 1x "dot" really looks like.

If I do ill be running to this sub to post all the pictures I can.

Very much agree. I like the way that NF opened up the center the way they did vs just shrinking the center dot. Very defined aiming point over the death donut. Vortex too has a .2 center but from pictures I still get distracted. I think it would remain more open in comparison below max power.

Exactly, why would you need 2 mil of windage dots at 1&2 mil of elevation ... Should start the 2 mil of wind at 3&4 mil of elevation.

That being said, I do like the hold under dots.
I like it. Although I hate it when the tree starts right at 0. Start it at 2 mils keep that center less cluttered. I’m really hoping nightforce matches vortex and offers a 1-10. Would be a killer scope on one of DMRs

from the photos at 1x its looks terrible ! not a complete dot like the old one. It looks something you would see in cheap airsoft clone ! can anyone post a photo of the new reticle again at 1x with the illumination on

Through the scope photos rarely give you a real feel for what’s going on. Some are good at taking the pics, most aren’t.

Honestly given the way NF does the bottom end, what the fuck are people expecting? If you want an Aimpoint bottom end and a precision rifle top end, best pony up some S&B level money.

have you looked through the new reticle ? i have placed an order through a dealer in here in the UK , i thinking of asking them to get nightforce to put the old reticle in mine (if they will even do it and doesnt cost $300+)
