Rifle Scopes NightForce NXS 2.5-10X32?

Was considering one of these on my 700 in .223 with a 20" barrel. The power is well within my needs, i'm just a little worried about the smaller objective diameter. It would only be used for paper shooting, out to 5-600 at max. Just trying to save a couple bucks over the larger scopes really. Just looking for some experience and input. Thanks in advance.

I have one and love it, I was shooting paper at 600 last weekend with no problem, this is a good all around scope, the obj is not to small, just right

I have a 2.5-10x32 LV reticle on my FNAR 308 and love it. Glass is super clear and the reticle matches my 308 out of a a 20" barrel do the T all the way to 600yards. I also have the ability to dial if i want to so it does not limit me. But dont let the "small" objective bother you. I have shot it at 600yards with sun going down and it did just fine. I am thinking of getting another one for my POF 308 i like it so much.

I run one on my 6x47 Lapua. HV reticle. Love it.

It is a wonderful scope...a lot of bang for the buck in a compact package. Just get it with zero-stop though. The one complaint I had with mine was that the compact NXS turrets do not have a turn indicator. I had NF retrofit it with zero-stop and mil turrets to match my reticle. Lowlight performance @ 10X is not going to be on par with scopes that have larger objectives, but there are a lot of shots you'd take that would be at lesser magnification.

I shot a running mule deer doe @ 90 yards through the back of the head while it was snowing heavily, under heavy canopy just after daybreak (2.5X). Also used it on a bull elk @ 283 yards last Friday. It's a real easy scope to get a sight picture with.

It's a perfect scope for a .223.
I've got two of them! Mil/Mil with zero stop. Couldn't be more happy!

Perfect scope for a .223. I have the NP-R2 reticle and for what you are wanting, one of the velocity reticles might be better. BTW, their customer service is top notch also.

You won't find a better all-around, practical scope and 10x is good out to 1,000 yards. Light gathering is superb. Go for it.

I have mine on a .308 NULA and love it! Great glass, tough construction, a simple usable reticle and illumination.

It replaced my Accupoint 1.25 - 4 amber triangle because I didn't want to be limited to PBR. Now I use it to 600 yds. with the M- Velocity reticle. As this is a general purpose hunting scope I got it with capped turrets. In hindsight, I can see where zero stops would make it even more flexible.

I have found that there are many loads available that will impact withing 1-3 inches of each other out to 600 yds. The ammo I use is:
Hunting, Hornady Superformance 150 gr. GMX .50 moa 6 round group.

Long range recision, Lapua 155 gr. Scenar .35 moa 6 round groups.

Radway Green 147 gr. FMJ 1.5 moa 6 round groups.

I LOVE the NF 2.5-10x32 scope! Great piece of glass. In fact, it is what I grabbed to stick on the AR we just built for the Snipers Hide Bash (we're donating the rifle as a prize).

The glass is clear. Everything tracks perfectly with very positive adjustments. Really good light gathering for a scope of its objective size. I use the mil reticle with mil knobs.

I have zero complaints about this piece of glass.

I got a chance to play with one a couple of weekends ago and it seemed like a very good scope. Shot out to 500 with and had no issues seeing clearly. The things that would have made it a better scope in my not so experienced opinion are FFP and an MLR reticle instead of the dots. These are obviously personal preferences though. I'd have no qualms about using one on my rifles.

In that same price and magnification rangethe 2.5-10 IOR may be worth a look if you are interested in FFP.

Next time we shoot together remind me to bring my AR15, I have one on top, you're welcome to drive it out to whatever range you're happy with and try it. NPR2 reticle and MOA knobs, no ZS.

I use it a lot for hold-over drills and practicing with 55 FMJ's in the wind out at 500. Last time we were out in that wind I shot about 10 rounds of 75 Amax's at 600yd and only did holdovers for the drill.

Great scope wouldn't trade them for much except another USO. I like a lot of things better about the compact over their standard NXS scope (eyepiece does not rotate when adjusting magnification) easy to control illumination, light and compact. I am not home right now but I have to look I think one I had was MLR and the one I have stored is mildot. Both had z stop and mil/mil.

I had one I used on a 223 and low light capability was very good. I had it also mounted on a AR-10 and shot out to 700m with it. I like scopes that I can dial in a low power. Max power is good when shooting targets. Low powers are needed for moving and low light use as well as fast target aquisition. I also used a PVS-14 behind it for night use. I have a 2nd sitting in my closet ready for another ar15 rifle when I finish it.

Just to jump on the band wagon, I also have a 2.5-10X32 on top of an AR that I built. I got the one with the NP1 reticle with Zero Stops. What I like the most about it is that it performs as well as, if not better, than other scopes in its class with larger objectives. The Nightforce is a relatively compact package that won't over power the rig.

This is it on top of an 18" build that I did not too long ago.

I have to admit that I do like the compact NXS models better than the larger models, in terms of ergonomics.

I have been trying to decided if this scope is "good enough" or if I should save a little longer for a USO 1.8-10. Just like alpha, my only real concern in the lack of parallax adjustment.

I don't think I've used all of the available collapsable stocks, but out of the ones I've used, the UBR is the only way to go for collapsable and precision. It's rock solid.

The upper is a Vltor MUR1, but I don't think it's billet. I believe it's a forging that's cut as thick as a billet. It's supposed to be really strong. I got the upper in a trade for a barrel. The lower is a Spike's Tactical. What I can I say? I really dig the Spider and the color fill.

As far as the parallax on the 2.5-10X32, it's a non issue. I've only shot mine out to 300 yards, but I've never had any problems with it. Quite frankly, if this scope had a parallax adjustment, I'd probably find it to be a PITA. This rig is fast.

I haven't had any problems with it out to 730.

I have 2. One on a POF 308 and one on a POF 223. They are awesome scopes. I put a 3.5-15 on my 308 and put the 2.5-10 on my 10/22. I probably should have left the 2.5-10x32 on the 308. These scopes work great.

The x32's give a little up in low light, but not much, they work great.

I shot 600 yards this weekend, NF 2.5x10.32, this scope is bad ass, no problems at all, parallax is not a issue

The parallax adjustment hasn't been any issue for me, like I said above it gets used a lot for holdover drills mostly. I've never had trouble with it (not touching ANYTHING) shooting from 25-550 with M193 cloned handloads and 200-800ish with 75Amax's. I have to turn the power ring or dial to get to 1k with it, the NP-R2 doesn't have enough elevation when using the center of the crosshairs for zero.

I've run it in front of a PVS-14 and behind a PVS-22 at night for a suppressed only steel shoot and it performs very well that way. It was part of a members only night shoot that my club does monthly, hits on steel out to 600 were easy to hold.

I have only used the 2.5-10 x 32 NF out to 300 where it worked fine and was super clear. You cannot use the higher powers closer in as the parallax is set somewhere out around 200+. I think that is why folks have not reported needing an adjustment at longer ranges. If you don't have scope shadow from eye alignment when looking through, parallax is probably a non-issue.

How high, and how close in?

IIRC around 5 or 6 max at 100 yds, and perhaps 4 at 50 yds. The clarity was not there at high powers in too close and the parallax was noticeable.

I have the same thing with my Zeiss Conquest Z-600 with a 300 yd parallax setting. It is not a problem, and infinitely better than having parallax problems at long range.

If you need to use high powers at close range, like trying to shoot small calibers for group, this may not be the scope for you. But, for hitting critters and practical targets at almost any reasonable range, it will do fine. YMMV

I shoot for groups at 100 yards using 10X all of the time. I haven't had any problems, but going closer than that, you do need to dial the magnification down.
