Rifle Scopes NightForce Problem (Illumination adjustment)

I have a Nightforce NXS scope that I am trying to adjust the illumination power on. The problem is, I can not get the cap off to get to where the battery and adjustment screw is.

I feel like an idiot, am I doing something wrong? I have tried all kinds of different grips and techniques to get this thing off and it will not budge a bit.

Anyone done this before? Would it have anything to do with the little microscopic screws in the side of the illumination knob?

Twist HARD ccw. It will come off.
